Even though I really liked the plot of this drama, I've been putting it off for the past 4 years because of Lee Min Ho. I first saw him in 2009 in BoF, also watched a few other dramas where he was the lead and I never understood the hype around this man. Finally decided to give this a chance on a whim. Well, I get it now. Acting from all the cast is great, the plot at first was great, then it was a bit off, we didn't get answers to all our questions, we didn't get the best ending, but this show is basically 16++ hours of your life swooning over Lee Min Ho. It's time well spend
A part of me (the optimistic one) also feels that this might all be just a trap and they actually have a happy…
I SO hope you're right, but at the moment, I don't see how that's possible. As far as we know, he's not in her life, her daughter doesn't even know him (not even as an "uncle", like, one of her mother's friends). It's a good thing that we know he's alive, so it won't be a sad ending. But I'm afraid it's going to be a bittersweet one, we see a lot of those in recent dramas. Why can't we have sweet, happy ones. 🤷♀️
life is hard enough, we don't need tragic endings to unique love stories, we need sweet and fluffy ones, no matter how unrealistic they may be. I still haven't recovered from the red sleeve, and now this
1 litre of tears was the first asian drama I watched and 13 years later I can say no other drama has made my cry as much as that one did, and I cry very, very easily
He never had any choice, if he wanted to complete his mission and keep himself, his comrades, and their families…
That's not what I said. I didn't compare their characters/actions/feelings. I just meant that Soo Ho was probably forced/guilted into becoming a soldier, just like RJH didn't want to become one, (if I remember correctly he was forced into it after his brother died)
He never had any choice, if he wanted to complete his mission and keep himself, his comrades, and their families…
exactly. I also don't think he ever had a choice. I don't think he became a soldier out of love for his country, instead he had to, for whatever reason, just like Ri Jung Hyuk in CLOY.
btw, "doing their damnedest to escalate the situation" is so on point, i'm crying 😂🤣
Loved your article!! I couldn’t agree with you more! I was also somewhat torn by the ending. Didn’t know if I should be happy or not... I was definitely happy that our main couple could finally be together, but at the same time a bit sad, about all the things you mentioned, how they’re just extras, could be erased anytime etc. Plus, as you said, they lost all their friends, lost their background. But most of all, I had this little tiny hope that, by the end of Secret, they would somehow find a way to, say, escape the world of manhwas and live their own lives without being controlled by anyone. I knew it was very unlikely, but still hoped there would be a way... It’s just sad that in the end no one could escape from the writer...
A poem a day is a very heart-warming slice of life drama, very nice, interesting and easy to watch. That’s what I really liked about it. Probably an unpopular opinion, but for me, the most well written character was Min Ho. From the spoiled rich kid, who gets to live without the worries of finding a job and making ends meet, to the anger, jealousy and his childish behaviour for his unrequited love, I think his character is very realistic and Jang Dong Yoon did an excellent job. I didn’t like Woo Bo Yeong’s character at all. Her love for Dr. Ye and the way she behaved with and around him made me cringe and I found Lee Yoo Bi’s acting rather blunt and boring, since I’ve seen most of her projects, I expected more from her.
I can't work out how the screenwriter, director, actors, everyone in this production thought that proposing to a minor you've known for ,like, an hour, is a reasonable plot development.
I think it would be better if they had made a drama, not a movie. Hirunaka no Ryusei is one of the best manga , such a wonderful story, and, even though the movie was a decent adaptation, in my opionion, still, there's so much more to this beautiful story that could've made the cut if it was a drama. ...

(I know he already said that he had kept it, but posting it on Jisoo's birthday/ after ep 7 is extra cute)
