The shows being referenced are licensed by iQiyi, which is also the company licensing this show. It's very common for iQiyi shows to appear in other iQiyi shows. Likely this is part of their contract and I imagine have to have a certain number of mentions of some sort throughout the show. I imagine doing it this way they can get through them early on and not have to keep doing them later.

on iQiyi it was showing 6/25 episodes up until a couple days ago. Not sure what that was about, but it seems like maybe there was supposed to be much more story. I heard they had a limited budget as well. They should tell us what’s going on though, instead of leaving a cliffhanger like that and quietly changing the episode count on iQiyi.
