Personally I would’ve preferred to see a complexity of emotions over an amnesia plot that dragged on for almost the entire series only to end rather anticlimactically. Of course, I imagine it would be difficult for the other characters as well to handle the return of Mu-deok, but no writing is perfect and this is but one of many possibilities of how this sequel could’ve turned out.
With how the transition was handled, I’m only curious if there could have been a different approach if ever JSM was able to join for Part 2. While unsure if it has ever been mentioned that the original casted actress was supposed to do both parts to begin with (if it hasn't- I suppose we will never find out) one can’t help but ponder.
If it had been intended from the beginning, then I can only say I wished the transition was more gradual.
But it was the original plot. If they didnt "change" it would be a different story and not this one with soul…
Unfortunate, I have to admit we spent so much time with JSM in Part 1 that she is unforgetable and I wish we could’ve at least seen some of her in Part 2 even with the amnesia plot; or I imagine that if Naksu’s body hadn’t been burnt there could have been a smoother transition back to GYJ (especially if it was already planned from the beginning) then perhaps we would’ve been able to see her true abilities as Cho Yeong herself in her own body, and not Jin Bu-Yeon.
JSM came late into production to replace the other actress; hence, with or w/out her, the story was not changing…
Mhm, I’m mostly referring to the plot of this sequel alone when I wrote this comment. I’m sure the overall plot and ultimate ending to the story is the same.
No hate for anyone and I thoroughly enjoyed the series, but I wonder if the change in female leads had largely affected the original plot, and how different it would be had there not been a change.
Judging by episode 15’s preview, it sort of feels like the reason they had decided to reveal Jung’s illness was to ‘reasonably’ set him aside, and allow Young Woo to be assigned to a superior who isn’t as kind as Jung—that is, Seung Jun—which would then make Min Woo appear to be the lesser evil (and probably, more redeemable?) though the Min Woo-Soo Yeon loveline does seem to be pushing it a little.
If it had been intended from the beginning, then I can only say I wished the transition was more gradual.
