For freaking real! I never watch these types of shows. I can count on one hand how many I have watched but I'm so done with it. It also just hits a nerve when you're a woman in literally any career line and you have to put up with assholes like this in real life, every day! It's not romantic, it's just cheap and repetitive.
am I the only one who thinks it's kinda fair, I am lee shin ah stan since day 1 but she did really horrible things…
I agree with you. It's totally different. She never had any power. Her revenge was childish at best and financial at worst(and he could afford it all, let's be honest. Helping a person who is sick? That's practically good karma for him!) Mental and physical abuse is on a whole other level. And adding to that there is the genders issue and I don't accept the "gender doesn't matter" argument because yes, it does. It always does. The show doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's in the context of human society and abuse of women by men is a daily struggle and a cultural habit in many places, including SK. Therefore, the context exists in the show too.
IMO they went too far with the concept of bullying women. The scene with the coffee's temperature wasn't funny…
I tried to play it for laughs but honestly, after watching him go at the abuse for most of the episode, my hands grew all cold and I got chills all over my arms from disgust. It's just really creepy how a person with so much power and influence is using everything at his disposal to terrorize a weak employee. Blackmailing her by threatening her family? Forcing her into a situation where she signs away her personal agency and consent? How is that funny? Where is the joke? I'm not laughing...
I'm honestly disappointed with episode 8 ngl. I want to enjoy this drama but it feels like we're just straight…
I really don't like how the show portrays his treatment of Sina. It's just really creepy. Like I can tell the show is going for a comical take but it's just no funny when a man with power, money, blackmail, and absolute control forces a woman to do stuff for him. Even if the stuff are just menial labor and shenanigans.
Not gonna lie, I did not find the "enslaving her as revenge" part funny at all. Modern slavery is a thing and it's horrifying and it's never funny. He always had ALL the power and still does. Being weird about the temperature of your coffee and other inconsequential crap that really don't matter are not reason enough to abuse your workers and he totally had it coming when she lashed out. So the fact that he's acting like he's the victim is so annoying. It was just really uncomfortable for me to watch that part. Edit: Well, a while ago I saw a documentary about a woman who was sold as a slave to a family and she worked as a cleaning lady for them for years and it was very traumatic for her and super upsetting to watch and this was an awful lot like that and it totally reminded me of it and I do not see why saying it made me uncomfortable for a very specific reason is something that the whole website feels like downplaying? If someone was okay with that in a comedic context? Fine! That's their business. I was not fine. It made me very uncomfortable. It's not deep. It's not a movement against the show. I'm not saying the show is taking a stance on modern slavery. I'm not accusing the creators of endorsing whatever. I am saying that was very uncomfortable for me to watch. It upset me. It's just how I felt. I don't get why everyone is trying to explain to me why I'm overreacting?!
What a delusional person lmao, ya still in your "pandering to the straightes" phase?? Have some self respect,…
I thought "pandering to straight people" was when gay characters are sanitised and stripped of their sexual agency to appear appropriate and harmless to heteronormative values?🤔 So like making explicit stuff is the opposite of that? Am I wrong?
I really don't like Min Woo. He's such a gross guy! He strings Hari along for years without confirming or denying her feelings, gets back with his ex, and then makes eyes at Hari. What a tool! On top of all this, he acts so insulted at the prospect of Hari dating someone else. like...wtf?! He expects her to just remain single and simp for him while he's dating someone else. What logic is that? Hate that guy!
It's not impossible...but I think the show is too camp to go the tragedy route. It'll be like shooting itself…
Yeah, it can happen but it's usually a bad call because ratings would suffer. I personally would give a really low rating to a show that pulls that sh*t, you know?
Guysss what if lee shinah dies in the end and Noh gojin ends up with his ex love🙍i will never recover from…
It's not impossible...but I think the show is too camp to go the tragedy route. It'll be like shooting itself in the foot to switch tones so drastically.
