It's super different! The pace is much faster but the romantic scenes more frequent and meaningful! The revenge plot is subtle and more realistic.. It's more focused on truly trying to escape an abusive cycle than dramatic shenanigans. I actually like this version better!

Oh I understand! I just think since it's a big part of the culture, it's unavoidable that it'll come up frequently! Especially since it's all about fated love which a romantic and dramatic concept. And even if younger people know it from modern iterations, it's still admirable to preserve a bit of old folklore like this. Especially at a time when old cultures are fading away and everything is homogenized into western narrative structures. I guess what I mean is, I hope they used it well in this show!
