I've commented this on another drama (Key to the phoenix heart) due to that IRL age gap as well and i am posting it here too
I can fully understand why people are upset about the fact that the FL Ai Mi is a minor however , the age of consent in China is different with it being 14 (quote taken from a page of legal research in china) "In China, a “minor” is defined as a person under the age of 18, a “child” is a minor under the age of 14, an “infant” is a child no older than 6 years old but more than 1 year old, and a “baby” is less than 1 year old. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨*𝙭𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝟭𝟰 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨, 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨*𝙭𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙨."
Now i am not trying to say that this makes it automatically better bUT even in America the AOC is at minimum 16 years old.
So while yes Ai Mi IS still (as of right now) a minor and is 10 years younger then Lin Yi she is still above the age of consent for China (AND America for that matter)
Also just my own personal opinion but I feel like 70% of the issue here is because most people automatically equate romance with scenes of physical intimacy such as kissing and other things. It can still be a romance drama without such scenes and there are plenty of actors AND actresses that do star in romance dramas/films but don't have ANY kissing scenes at all. Romance doesn't ALWAYS NEED physical intimacy

oh woah! did they ever say there will be a season live adaptation? (asking cause I am clueless)
not that I've heard but I know Yang Yang did take a hiatus/break after his drama in 2023 and only now more dramas are coming out/showing up on his page aside from TKA2
