Clearly, he is gay. There is no doubt there. What I mean is that in the novel, he is pretending to be straight to protect himself because he has faced homophobia in the past when he was younger. In short, he has issues accepting and loving himself.

One more thing. This episode does not indicate at all that Bunn is a closeted gay man. Maybe I will wait for a few more episodes to see if they explore this. A big part of Bunn's personal struggle in the novel is his sexuality and I hope they don't ditch it in the series adaptation.
Posting some of my thoughts on Episode 1 as a reply to this comment. Spoiler for Episode 1 incoming.

I like that Bunn met and got infatuated with Tan before the murder. That makes it more believable that our protagonist Bunn, who obsesses over things and doesn't let his guard down much, would fall in love with the main suspect. I also like how Tan flirted with Bunn at the director's birthday. It is realistic for two grown ups to flirt that way.
I like that Bunn just moved to the town. When I read the novel, I questioned why Bunn did not know about things happening in this small town even though he has lived there for some time (I am not sure the novel explains how long he has been in the town). So, this change or explicitly stating the number of days he has been in the town in the series explains this.
I like that they gave Jane some characterization. In the novel, she is simply 'the victim'. But, I don't know how I feel about Bunn and Jane knowing each other from before. I will have to wait and see what I think about it after watching the full series.
I like that they follow the novel and the locals speak in a dialect. Sorawit is still so adorable as he is in the novel
The epilogue at the end of ep1 was funny. It was a good decision to put it at the end. It deepens the dynamic between Bunn and Oat, and it does not disrupt the flow of the serious scenes.
The story is different enough from the novel that even if you have read the novel, you will still be intrigued by the suspense in the series.
Wow! Thanks for your post, now I'm even more interested in this drama thanks to you. :) is Bun the killer? I don't…
Neither of our 2 protagonists is the killer. I suggest watching the series not knowing who killed Jane. Besides, they might change up the story a bit in the series adaptation. But, I don't think they will change so that Bunn or Tan is the killer because although this is a suspense story, but it is a love story first (and that does not mean there will be less suspense or action, there will be plenty). Bunn and Tan are flawed people, and they learn to become better people because of their encounter with each other. In the trailer when Bunn went to the scene of the crime and saw Tan as the one who discovered the body, that is the first time they meet and so of course there will be some chaos in their relationship. The director's previous works are critically acclaimed so I think (and hope) he will do justice to this series adaptation of the novel. He might even make it better than the novel.
I have seen some people (not here) say that they feel that the trailer revealed a lot. Trust me when I say that the trailer revealed nothing. It reveals that Bunn and Tan start a relationship or at least sleep together, but we already know that will happen. The trailer reveals that Jane might not have committed suicide and Tan might have something to do with it, but that is literally a part of the synopsis and will probably be a part of episode 1. There are some other scenes like Tan might have been beaten up by some people at some point and that maybe Bunn should not have trusted Tan, but isn't that the point of a trailer of a suspense thriller- to draw in viewers to watch this series out of curiosity? I feel the trailer was very well made. It kind of shows that among all these chaos, their might be a sweet love story.
Aside, when they announced the casts the first time, I was disappointed that they did not announce an actor for Sorawit. Now, I am happy to see Sorawit in the casts and in the trailer. In the book, he is the most adorable character. MOD will be incomplete without this character.
THIS IS THE ONLY series I still have faith in it cause let me tell you all the other Thai series are the same…
I expect this series to be good, not because of the story or the actors (even though I love Max and love the novel) but because of the director. If you look at the director's previous works, you can tell he knows what he is doing and that he is passionate about filmmaking.
This isn’t a hate comment or anything I just wanna say that there are actually tons of great Thai series bl…
I love' I told sunset about you'. But is 'I told sunset about you' bl? would say it is a coming of age story. I really appreciate the writer and director paying so much attention to Teh's struggles driven by societal expectations - filial responsibilities in a patriarchal heteronormative society.... I relate so much to him.
Q: So they will In a love triangle with Inspector M? (Feel Free to Spoil)
There is no love triangle in the novel. The conflicts in their relationship come from Bunn's inner demons, Tan's affiliations, and the murder they are trying to solve.
