Give it a go. I am Thai, and not a big Thai lakorn's fan at all. Rather, I hate them. But I made an exception to this one. Not because everyone is apparently crazy about this lakorn, or about how it manages to drag the young gen back from Korean land (which is still good and waiting imao), but more about the love between the two characters, the history of Siam (Ayuttha period), the culture and all that. It's almost like Thai Dae Jang Geum, in a sense.
