It's very American.
The series is based on a New York Times column, which explains it's "American-ness". It was also adapted into an American drama series and other countries have their own versions as well. Most, if not all of them were produced and released on Amazon Prime Video.

I wonder if a subset are folks who prefer drama and thought it was more animated (like its Netflix predecessors,…
Just leaving this here, so I'm not commenting directly at you, but, just to clarify, Rilakkuma and Gudetama are from two different companies - Rilakkuma is from San-X, while Gudetama is from the same company (or home) as Hello Kitty (Sanrio). People get them confused since the company names sound the same and the fact their companies produce cute mascots.

Title First Love Spoiler
Far as I know, they're both in their 20s. The guy who played young Namiki just recently turned 26.
It's interesting to note that Rikako (young Yae) and Taisei (young Harumichi) were in their 20s when they were filmed and casted, but the actor who plays adult Yae's teenage son is actually 17 (he was born in 2005), so when they casted him and got around to filming he was in secondary school and is now 17.

Title First Love Spoiler
Yae pretended to be a flight attendant walking around in a blue uniform and dragged her luggage around before…
That part in episode 9 is definitely real. She even uses up all her vacation days to go to find him. As for how she is qualified to be a flight attendant and how she found him are totally different though and I'm not sure how to explain that. Also, she is allowed to leave her teenage son behind. Her kid seemed totally supportive of his mom doing her own thing and finding love again (this is supported early on when he gifts her a new outfit to go on dates with).

Title First Love Spoiler
I must say this drama is better to be watched twice. There are a lot of scenes that will become better after you…
For the part about Yae learning sign language, I realized that Tsunemi never learned sign language in the 8 years they were together? Not sure if she did and they didn't show it or she just never bothered? I think for this, maybe it shows that Tsunemi just wanted desperately to be married to someone and just happened upon Harumichi, while Yae learning sign language within the few months they started dating, showed her determination to want to get along with Harumichi's sister and have her feel included and part of her family.

From my understanding, the flight attendant uniform looks exactly like the one her coworker at the factory told her to wear for the Halloween party. Maybe she ended up getting it anyway. And then later she wore it at the airport.

Completely agree about the nude scene. It was incredibly unnecessary since the woman only appears for that scene…
I think that timeline might be incorrect? Seemed to me that that happened before he met Tsunemi (they met in 2010 or sometime around there).

Why it's a big-deal:-The story was announced to be based-off of Utada Hikaru's First Love & Hatsukoi. The singer…
Also, just a little fun fact, but Utada Hikaru came out as non-binary quite some time ago but still is okay with she/her pronouns.

If it's following the original, then no. At least not from what I remember.
Honestly, I didn't think the love triangle was that big enough to call it as such. It was only a huge misunderstanding in my opinion.

This one is so under the radar. It was announced in 2020, but nothing seems to surface when I search for its latest…
Hikaru isn't starring in the drama. The drama is just going to be based on the songs "First Love" and "Hatsukoi".

Are the words available?
What do you mean? Like the lyrics? If so, I'm pretty sure they are considering the song came out in 1999.

Title I Will Be Your Bloom Spoiler
I'm intrigued, but I wonder if the acting will be good. The actors are young, but they might just surprise us.…
Just because they're young doesn't mean they're not talented. There are plenty of older actors who can not act, and the vice versa applies, meaning there are ton of talented younger actors, includong children. Age does not equal talent nor experience.

Title The Return of Superman Spoiler
I just watch it on platforms like kshowonline. I don't know if any paid subscription platform has it.
I'm in the US and Viu is not available stateside. And according to their website, it doesn't look like they're going to expand to here any time soon.

Person Miyavi
Despite his Korean heritage, he doesn't talk about it much. He is very very proud of his Japanese heritage though.…
According to Wikipedia, he's Korean on his father's side, with his father being half Japanese and half Korean. His wife I believe is fully Japanese, which would mean his kids don't have a lot of Korean bloodline.

I would love to see this movie when it comes out! I love anything with musicians and good stories and plots.
While you're waiting, I would highly suggest watching the original.
