Seeing how this is based on real people and events, I read up on what happened to Muranishi and Kuroki (I don't think was her real name btw), and sadly, Muranishi ended up becoming bankrupt due to his greed, while Kuroki eventually retired from AV and entertainment.

So although the portrayal might have been exaggerated, it seems like the events of seemed to have happened in real life.

As much as I agree on many of you on this, the age of consent in Japan is as low as 13, and this also depends on prefecture. In all technicality, their relationship could be deemed legal.

This movie is apparently based on an Italian play of the same name, which is also based upon another play of the same name. It's also apparently been in filming since 2018. I'm assuming it got pushed back because of COVID-19.

The anime has a film version which focuses on the other two (technically three) characters but I'd watch the anime first for more context. The live action left out a whole lot out of everyone's stories.

If I remember correctly, the family moved because the perpetrator refused to move. They left the town that they loved and supported them through everything because their daughter would be traumatized further.

The irony of Mafuyu singing badly here when he's a singer IRL lol. Maybe listening to a real song of his to compare? Either that or it's the style of singing of his that you're maybe not fond of? I happen to enjoy sanari's music.

As far as I know, I believe the Twins have a YouTube channel, while the Triplets I think have been participating in commercials and ads here and there. As for Sarang, she's been featured on her mom's Instagram here and there and they're living in Hawaii (though I don't know what happened to Yuto considering he's a private citizen and not a child of a celebrity); Sarang did show up for one or two reunion episodes but that's about it.

The devastating part is that most of the South Korean citizens hated the guy's guts too and never wanted him out. The judicial system in South Korea is just messed up. He was able to get away on a loophole law because he was drunk which needs to be fixed, and again, most South Koreans would agree that this system needs to be fixed. So not just alcohol, but rape laws as well. Even worse that he was protected by law enforcement and escorted back to his house.

The interesting part about the scene where Mafuyu shouts when he sings is that his actor is literally a singer himself, so the fact that he was probably directed to do that is kind of ironic for me. In hindsight though, Mafuyu's character has never sung out loud before and is also a very shy and closed off person, so I can see why that chose was made.

I'm not sure about the manga, but I'm pretty sure the anime is finished. It also has a side story film that released over the summer as well.

I kinda agree. I saw the anime too, however, didn't think that Suzuki's acting was too over the top in terms of him trying to emulate the anime too much. I think that it was just enough to me and came off believable.

If you like the drama, I'd HIGHLY recommend checking out the anime and the manga.

I've been randomly watching the history of pornography in general in Japan and apparently Japan was extremely open about it before westerners came around.

I mean, it IS a sitcom. Netflix never advertised it as a true K-drama.

I think there are quite a few, but it's mostly high school that's in the center of Kdramas. This is also going to be a sitcom and not exactly in the realm of a typical Kdrama.
