idk what kind of content you're talking about honestly because I've only ever watched asian bls, mostly korean, japanese, thai and taiwanese and most of the ones I've watched were more than just some content to fantasize about and I'm definitely not familair with any western content and although it's true that the target audience is teenage girls it's still early to say teenagers don't require the content to be more open minded because it's always better for at least one part of the society be made aware than nothing at all. As for the older generation it's near impossible to make them accept but it's still better for the coming generations. See, throwing a bunch of facts doesn't change the fact that "BL" has more or less been revised to anything that contains boyxboy content at the present. I may not know much about the roots but at the present era all boyxboy content comes under the "BL" genre, whether it's erotic or not. Also i disagree with what you said about the target audience since there are still so many younger audience who are still uncomfortable with homosexuality, it depends on the country and varies across different cultures. Im one of those people who've come to accept homosexuality through bl content and I've always hoped for the genre bl/gl be just removed and shown as romance instead because specifically mentioning bl/gl just creates a barrier and keeps the gp away from these contents and this way so many wonderful works won't be recognised.

it certainly is thrilling to see characters like that, we're all fans of justice being served but for me that's only something that should stay fiction bc as much as the former sounds too good and fair, I'd still prefer a person who is nice throughout and treats everyone almost equally, giving each person a chance to grow and change because i believe violence would only make things worse for all the parties involved sure it might solve some problems but you have to live with the sin and in extreme guilt for the rest of your life but instead if you decide to let go and forgive you'll be able to move on with your life. Duekpal wasn't close to the kid so why would he hold any grudge towards the bully? As he is a former gangster and a grown man, he is only trying to guide the younger ones to have a better life because he knows well from experience what a life without proper education leads to.
Deukpal is a character that goes to so much length to give the victim a better life, so him feeling empathetic towards the bully hearing about the conditions at his home is reasonable. He is not like any other gangsters, from the beginning itself you can see he is studying to change his life for the better because he finally knows being a gangster is not his call, so calling him a wimpy gangster is disregarding his efforts to be a good person imo.
What I don't understand from what you said is that you want him to act like an actual gangster but at the same time be a good person to make the victim's life better that feels rlly unrealistic and contradicting.

He didn't murder anyone intentionally, im definitely not taking his side because he hasn't reflected on his actions at all but without forgiveness you cannot live in this world. Some people have to go through the worst and be forgived in order to be a good person especially in case of young adults since they make the worst decisios some times. People are not born good. Also you can see that when he went with the gang and betrayed them he wasn't strong willed to kill anyone, he is lost because of family's negligence, which made him a loser who dumps his frustrations onto his peers. What he is did is wrong but with enough reflection and character development he also deserves to be forgiven especially since he is still in school.

ofc when i said meaningful i also meant from a subjective view and don't get me wrong i do love the characters and also them being supportive and direct is what i love about them. What bothers me is the fact that it's fwb and im not a fan of this genre because I think you only have to be intimate with someone you love, other than that sex is kinda unnecessary (ofc im not saying don't have fun it's purely a personal view i believe everyone has the right to choose what they want to do) and in this case they both even had their own love interests as well ik some people separate love and pleasure but for someone like me it's hardly relatable i personally would watch anything over fwb and that's why seeing the chemistry between greatinn i want them to have more series in the future but something more relatable.
