I honestly enjoyed it.

I am quite flabbergasted at the negative reviews but to each their own. I watched this series literally blind in a sense where I didn’t know the actors nor what the plot was. I genuinely enjoyed it and watched it all straight until the last episode (‘cause I had to wait two days).

I like how it was fluffy with a hint of weirdness. Weirdness because of Jay mostly, but hey, that is his signature. I found the humor entertaining (17k banana fritters, using a garland as a payment deposit, the whole cinema PDA fiasco). There were some story holes in between that were filled eventually by the flashbacks. I would recommend it to people who desire just a light plot and not so much drama, toxicity and violence.

I enjoyed the flashbacks the most of their first encounter. It keeps you on your toes, guessing what might’ve happened back then for them to have such a weird dynamic. It keeps you guessing the predictable such as Sant probably leaving him in the end after many failed attempts during their first meeting, ultimately leaving him waiting in the Karaoke room. Then it turns out he wasn’t that much of a bad person and actually came back (which I loved the second they showed the flashback and kept repeating it). What made me enjoy the series more is well- they’re both cute. They have chemistry and such huge potential. Literally waiting for them to have another series if given another chance.

Just a me thing but I honestly do find myself wanting to steer away from BL series that are of heavy drama or dragging toxic relationships. I DO enjoy them no doubt but they are draining and you kinda wanna take a break from it.

As for the things I would’ve appreciated if improved, it would be these:
1. I wish they expounded more on Sant’s struggles as a breadwinner. To me, they didn’t seem like they were struggling since his fam owned a homestay? And his mom was sending them money (secretly). I guess I wanted to see the struggle of the hustle, his hardships of juggling studies, work and his toothache(lol). Make him reach rock bottom so he comes crawling back to Jay lol.
2. I wish there were more episodes. I felt as if it was really cut short (especially when I saw the timeskip). More things could have happened within those three years. Is this like a production/budget issue?
3. I needed a deep talks kind of scene. Those are the best. It makes you feel as if for a few minutes that this plot could be actual real life. Take Cherry Magic for example, the fact that New’s chara was sad that his job was stagnant and that he felt depressed was so REAL. In STGD’s case, they could’ve talked about Jay feeling empty because his path wasn’t really paved for him or Sant’s abandonment issues.
