Surprisingly YES! But it's a rollercoaster of emotions getting there.
I feel you. Before I gave ITSAY a try, I really thought/felt like it had a depressing ending. Partly based on how people were reacting. BUT! apparently not. Is it still a happy ending if by the time we get to the happy ending, we’re so emotionally beat up? Lol
Is it a valid complaint that I felt emotionally and literally dehydrated after watching all 5 episodes in 1 day? (Specially the latter) My face hurts from all the feels. That was intense.
Finished it the day before the premier of I Promised You The Moon, and I really have to say. I get it. I GET IT! I. GET. IT. I Told Sunset About You is god tier Thai BL. I get why it is one of the TOP 3 BLs of 2020. Deserved!
I’m reminded of a quote from Gaya Sa Pelikula (Like In The Movies). “What would happen if we didn’t have to be afraid?”
A big chunk of the drama of I Told Sunset About You would be resolved if we aren’t made to be afraid of being who we are. It’s all society’s fault, people! Let kids just love!
10 dehydrated STARS! My face is still tender.
Fingers crossed for I Promised You The Moon! To, to, to, TO THE MOON!
I have to be honest. This is the only BL by far FOR ME that is so bad it's good. This HIStory is the messiest one of all the HIStorys by far, and I JUST LOVED IT! It was just ridiculous from the get go, but so, so entertaining in its problematic story.
I have to mention, are people really into the step-siblings getting together trope? I mean, cool, I guess. But if you actually know the law on the matter, it’s pretty black and white. Step-siblings can legally get married. End of story. I just find how they use this trope and sensationalize it out of proportions so funny. It’s so entertaining. Like. It’s legal. Get over yourselves. LOL
The highlight for me, and I’m sure I’m not alone in this one, is the lovely cameo we get around the end from a certain couple from HIStory3. It was just a lovely cherry on top, and I loved that they sort of gave us more closure from the ending of that HIStory3. If you know, you know.
Last thing i have to note is that i find it most ironic that arguably the most romantic lines of all of HIStory by far came from the not so arguably creepiest character ever. But i have to reiterate. I JUST LOVED IT! Even the little creep!
Over all it was a mess. But it was such a mess that I ultimately really, really enjoyed it.
LOVE WINS, GUYS! WOOOOO! HIStory still for the win!
P.S. I legit feel like they really played hard on the cliché yaoi tropes; why we got this lovely/messy lump of a mess. I see it, and I loved it. 9 COMPLETELY PROBLEMATIC STARS! (In the best way possible)
Let’s be real. This one was a mess. It’s only real saving grace is Sun Bo Xiang (Wilson) and Lu Zhi Gang (Thomas). All the KILIG in the world! (Google it) (Best word ever) Don’t get me started on the “gay for you” trope. Gay erasure, much? Ugh. Gave it an 8 for all the cute pillows in and out of the classrooms.
Just finished the show..It was all sunshine and rainbows until ep 10..I don't mind sad endings , and before watching,…
Just finished it myself. I totally agree. It was messy, but cute, I guess. Then we get to the final episodes. It was just a sad wet mess. The cherry on top I can never get over is the “gay for you” trope. I hate it with a vengeance, I swear. Trapped still supreme! #FreeTangYi !!!
Meh. What a disappointing finale. In ep 11 it was established that the scandal burst out with the picture taken…
Exactly this. It ended up so disingenuous to the fans. The ending was such a mess which makes it extra sad ‘cause the whole series started so strong. Very disappointing. Story had so many potholes. Lazy writing, I believe. It’s so sad that it ended this way. I’m so not content. Send help!
WTF was that? This series was just pretending to be a critique of the BL culture, but it was really just a reinforcement…
I agree with this 100%. I don’t understand how many fans love to disregard the problems with this series. It was so problematic. Specially the story. It had a lot of unnecessary plot lines. I was just so disappointed. It started out so strong. The ending felt very disingenuous to the fans. I hope a lot of the people who actually enjoy the ending realize that we’re not actually criticizing specifically just how the story ended. But the whole thing. Really think about it. It was very messy.
Such a stupid ending. They took a wonderful series and screwed it up. Aey had no ending. Needed to know more about…
I feel exactly the same way. It ended in a way that felt very disingenuous to the fans. It started out so strong, but the ending was such a mess. It was a solid waste of time. I feel very cheated.
After watching the ending... I finally concluded that this series is on the parody spectrum... i feel like the…
I totally feel you. It feels like I got cheated out of a really good ending. The last episode was such a drag. Very disappointing. But it started out so strong. So sad.
I don't know why but the last 3 or 4 episodes left me so unsatisfied... the ending was a bit OTT as well, it's…
I feel exactly the same way. It started so strong, but near the end it was getting very messy. It’s a bit disappointing. I feel cheated? I feel so incomplete. Send help!
In general, I can honestly say that it was a good series. I just find the pacing a bit disappointing. Having a climax at the penultimate episode, then treating the ending that way. It’s certainly felt disingenuous to the fans. You have a last episode that ran the longest, but wasted so much time on unnecessary scenes. Don’t get me started on how Gene just automatically reconciles with Sib. I certainly feel a bit cheated in the end. The start of the series was really good. It was really strong. But the ending felt so scattered and messy. I’m not content, and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.
