i saw how someone was starting to sub this on daddicts and came to check it out. 9.3 is a ridiculous rating but then again there are only 4 votes and of that 2 are 8.5 (anyone who uses .5 i disrespect lol because they lack good judgement skills) so really there are only two votes, i will wait a while and see if there are more opinions before i decide on takin this up
4) Drama/Movie Score: In the old version, we did have the score, but it was obscured and located near the bottom of the page. In this version, it's now much more obvious to see what the drama score is.
5) Rating system now allows .5 ratings. Now users can give a drama a 8.5 instead of having to go with either an 8 or a 9.
Unfortunately, these were the two major changes that took the site a step back rather than forward.
4) Other similar websites be it for drama, anime, or whatever else people like to keep track of have the average score only as a sub-component of the target object. The score is but a part of the reason why people would pick up a drama and should not be a focus of the page, which unfortunately it is at the moment. MAL does it very well as when you choose to add an anime to the list, it immediately brings you to the appropriate section without revealing the score and thus biasing your expectations nor future ratings. It is scientifically proven that prior revelation of an average score leads to people to rate closer to the average, a bias that we do not want to unnecessarily introduce to a good website as it is.
5) We had also a long time ago discussed that humans are scientifically proven to not rate beyond 0-7 very well, and a 10 point scale was already redundant but perhaps easier to comprehend for the masses. The introduction of a 20 point scale is completely useless. However, this does not affect my usage of the system thus I am not bothered except for remarking on its redundancy. In fact, perhaps it is of the administrators belief that introducing .5 would allow for more accurate averaged scores, (as statistically you would be allowed a legit 2 decimal place mean), but given you are only allowed .5 and 1 i dont think it is truly legit anway
Either ways, none of the changes neither benefit or adversely affect my experience except for the large biasing score that is stuck in my face whenever i want to read the narrative of a drama. If we can roll that back, ideal. If not, whatever. The fundamentals are expected, but excellence is not. I can live with MDL as it is. However, MAL and mal.oko.im does an excellent job, if anything, use that as a reference.
