yeah lay really isn’t a mean or harsh person in real life lol. i love exo so i should know haha. he was just a bit harsh towards the trainees with the first evaluation because he really knows how much work it takes and how devoted you need to be. so really instead of harsh it’s more like serious/strict.
i feel that lay being the pd/judge although harsh, it was necessary. but i felt that lay’s harshness and judging all in all made much more sense. the judges we have rn are fine but i feel that the rankings are just kind of off. for me whenever lay gave a ranking i understood where it came from, but now i think it’s more a game of “we need to give some of the good people bad grades for a dramatic effect”. a lot of the judges were giving the groups/trainees who went w the soft/cute side bad grades and i don’t understand why. like for the cutesy version of moonlight i thought it was great, but they ended up with a C or new. referring back to idol producer... chen linong gave a cutesy performance and got an A because they thought his skills were good, but now in ywy3 the cutesy performances could be really good but they would only give them a C at the highest because “being an idol isn’t all cutesy concepts” idrk but oh well ig.
i also think it’s weird that the newbie class will have esther yu as their “mentor” and the higher classes have the better mentors. shouldn’t the lower grade class get the better mentors so they can further improve??? idk i may have interpreted it wrong so please correct me if i misunderstood lol.
i want lian huaiwei to debut bc previous boy season of ywy he got 10th, he was so close! 加油！
