I think that's because current LJ was born from his obsession and guilt over JL. Given the circunstances, It was difficult for him to let others enter his world aside of JL. LWY is very closed off as well.

the season 2 are on talk because the drama is having a huge success and the most compeling thing about the drama are the characters. The world building only supports them, they're always the main focus. I'm not very familiar with this director but I don't think they'll change the leads now.

I definitely need to watch the season 2 now, there's no way I'll be satisfied with that ending just because It could have been worse😭 I'm too obsessed with Luyi and Ji Ling as well

He may be cunning but wise? lol. He thinks all his problems could be fixed killing people with his hell fire. He doesn't have emotions or humanity.
He learned how to be wise throught her. That's the whole point of his character. She surpasses him in terms of EQ. She knows better than him how to dealt with relationships, emotions and compassion, things that are essential to a ruler, that's why they became not only lovers but also besties at some point, they're strong in what the other lacked and viceversa.

Idk maybe this show isn't for you. Jus saying. No one is forcing you to watch it

the writer has a good reputation though. She wrote the script of Sky Castle, a massive hit in Korea. I think the director is also a big name there.

This is a fantasy setting, of course she doesn't look like anyone you know irl because she really isn't like anyone you know lol. Assuming you and the people around you aren't isolated and sheltered flower fairies of 1000 years old. I would have concerns if she were a college girl in a modern setting but her personality fits well with the plot and context of the drama. He also began being something close to a psychopath (which isn't the most normal thing in our world either). This is a slowburn. The romance unfolds very slowly with the development of the characters. She changes a lot as she experiences hardships, fixes her roots, and remembers her past. He changes a lot as well as he fixes his tree of emotions and we go more into the drama.
I'm not into women so I don't know about feeling physical attraction to her (I don't think men are the main target for this drama either). Still, I loved her makeup and her dresses were all stunning (especially the Moon Tribe dresses). Maybe the people who loved the drama aren't the problem but it's you who have a different taste?

I loved his acting in cinderella and the four knights and the beauty inside, in which he wasn't the lead but he nailed his character so much with Lee Da Hee that there are people (like me lol) who watched the drama just for the secondary couple. I haven't seen his recent projects but I thought he was a promising actor back then. I hope we see more of him more in the future.

I would love to see it! I wish they show us all the eliminated scenes. I miss this drama alot.
