Ahhhhh episode 13 was crazy!! An intentional slowburn where things hit the fan FAST and DEVASTATINGLY. Of the october dramas (fated hearts, yummy, love in the clouds) this has been my go to as I wait for the others to finish before bringing. First off, the production is beatiful - almost a light MJTY or FoF which is no suprise with LYX and HMH (I just can't stop getting deja vu!). For the actual plot, this is a slowwww burn where both leads are pretending/pursing their own goals even though they're fake dating but but but episode 13 blew everything up and I have a feeling the real plot is starting and its about to be angsty and yearning
I see a lot of people saying that they don't like this drama because it's too light-hearted and they wanted something more serious and gritty. It's unfair to say the drama is bad just because it's not what you expected and not judging it for what it is. The leads have good chemistry, the production quality is great, and the storyline is entertaining - even if scenes have been cut due to the government that would help explain situations. As the drama has gone on, He Yan is getting less playful and the stakes are raised. If you don't like it, that's fine but that doesn't mean that it's low quality or the He Yan - a girl who has never been able to be her real self - is a weak female lead.
There is no reason for Dudu to blame the death of his father on the female general since the deputy general of…
The deputy said that the female general ordered him to delay the information. Although we know she didn't and it was probably her brother or some scheme, Dudu doesn't and is just learning her real identity and still mistrusts her
Ep 11-12. Ahhhh! The eps were so good tonight! It's a breath of fresh air to see our stoic ml embrace how much he cares for her even if it's in a heroic "I need to save her way" even though his head was spinning about why he let her kiss him. He can lie to everyone about his virtuous reasons, but not to himself. Also, the reveal of her being GQM's slave was sooo satisfying esp since SZN didn't let her play the whole holier than thou role. Love it! The angst of her dying, him trying to save her, and the plot twists of XXC being possed and killing GQM's father AND it the demon XXC was possessed with that SZN fell in love with was the best possible route. All in all, I'm so excited to see where this drama goes now that we're >25% there.
Also, saw a lot of comments about this not quite living up to the starry love or it being too cliche (its a xianxia), but I have to say, doing something bad is worse than doing something borning. While yes, very similar plot points and production team, I think that this drama has taken so many of the beloved sterotypes of xianxia and the chemistry between the fml and ml with the execution has made it so enjoyable to watch.
Ep 10. I haven't been disappointed yet! She is playing the perfect, coy, foxy demon and people can no longer say the male lead doesn't have emotion - he's cold and strong silent type but he's so expressive in his "wtf" side eye when she acts crazy. Great couple and great chemistry.
