I see it as he likely fakes his death because they were originally planning to have a season 2 and they probably didn't want a prison break episode so we're likely going for the freedom after "death" and the guy in the cloak was likely him while hiding his identity to gear up the suspense for season 2, and i fill in the blanks myself and say he took her with him to the place they were originally planning on going 😁
