I saw this drama recommended when looking for series who deal with mental health issues with similar sensibility…
I don't think it does it perfectly.
But the relationship and challenges relating to the main leads (the brothers) is dealt with pretty beautifully. The love and frustration is shown nicely. I think it's a show worth a watch.
Lol. I had no idea this was going to be only 12 episodes long. Came here to update my progress. Was casually going through the comments to realise this was the end. By kdrama standard they wrapped this up pretty quick and weird. Didn't seem like an ending at all.
Nevertheless light hearted fun watch. Had some genuinely funny moments.
But also they were young... and it seemed like BYJ had hit a really low level of depression while in NY... and…
I agree with that too. See the issue is, they never showed them fight. Ever. And the first misunderstanding that happens they breakup. A little unrealistic.
This is just my take on what happened. i think it's mostly because Yijin acquired the trauma of those affected…
Oh yes. I understand that part. You're absolutely right, I think HeeDo was emotionally exhausted. To have to do anything with yijin. but the thing is for the characters who *tried* to work through the issues in some way or other upto this point didn't try. They just stopped. The amount of hurt you have to be to just stop and give up on your love wasn't shown properly. That's all.
How tf did YR and JW make it work but not HD and YJ??
Because i feel they put each other before their personal wants. I think jiwoong really stepped up when she went abroad. Thing is he made efforts for them to be together that i didn't see in BYJ and NHD story. Once he moved to NY. They never once show them trying to have an adult conversation even when they're back. Not once. Which is so out of character.
Why were the MCs so out of character?People who were ready to fight the world for each other, whose biggest quality was the understanding and genuine love they had for each other and individuals who had the combined maturity of a 300 hundred year old therapist at 19 & 24 years, not even try to work on a relationship that could've brought them happiness??????????????? That meant the world to them???? (Or maybe they could look into the future and knew all too well that it will NEVER work out?)
I'm trying really hard to make my peace with this ending but I just can't.
This show will remain a favourite of mine because it's so beautiful and perfect and made me feel so many emotions.
I think one thing that people are mad about and which was shown often in their future timeline was how they'd reference things from that relationship, it wasn't the best way to show it but it is true, nevertheless. There is essence of the people you love that remains in you. The love they had, would always leave an impression.
It's just that when we see it in the show it happens in a matter of minutes. Like they just broke up and now she's referencing that someone once told her, her left side is prettier. But she's actually saying it years later, reminiscing.
And that's where i think one more episode could've come in. All this show needed was one more episode!
They could've made this bittersweet ending work if they added one more episode. More answers, better closure and maybe a few happy moments. Just a few? Once they got on with their lives. Growing up is exactly this sad, drifting away from someone you love with all your heart is just this real, and old memories are just this fond. But here it felt like it was forced just to 'make' it realistic. I didn't think they'll end up together (they could've if they worked through their issues but hey doesn't always happen IRL) but the way it was executed wasn't nice. The first half of the episode absolutely amazing. I balled my eyes when they say goodbye. But just till that moment. Then it went to shit.
Massive props to moon jiwoong for making it work. I would've been more heartbroken if they both didn't end up together. And seungwan deserves to have a beautiful love story of her own.
And I thought last episode was a rollercoaster ride. š
The writing in this show has been impeccable upto this point. The twists don't seem forced. And the actors have my whole heart!!!! It's amazing to see them interact.
My heart is going to be in pieces and my soul is going to be crushed once the show ends. With happiness or saddens. I don't know.
