I actually find ko yu rim's story more interesting and inspiring than the main leads. Hee do has plenty going…
I agree that the inspirational take they have isn't coming through. I think it's a flaw in the writing of the show. You need to show her putting in the work, it can't always just be implied or in a montage.
I see how her trying hard, not giving up, plays into the two leads' relationship. But when i see yu rim and hee do as sportswomen, their origin story and grit, yu rim feels more real, authentic and deserving.
BUT a big part that makes me still root for hee do is that i relate to her reason -- 'familiarity'. She's someone who was good at a thing but is in a rut and it's her trying her hardest to come out of that. And I personally can understand that. So it works for me! Hee do is a character I relate to but am not inspired by technically.
But i feel like it's understandable. You won't expect that level of maturity from a 15year old.
Oh no no i think he understands that very well. But the decision he takes, the decision to act that way, to ignore him, that's something a 15 year old would do. Not being able to understand how hurtful it can be.
I think the age gap isn't what's a problem. It's *written* like a platonic relationship. But it's the way they've *shot and edited* it, the shots linger on for a little too long and the background score makes it romantic..
In dramas I prefer death over permanent breakups, but that's just me.
I think sometimes it can come down purely to the context. But i love these characters a lot to bear someone dying. But then again I think they're not going to kill anyone cause it has no incentive here, beside shock value. I don't know. *combusts spontaneously*
Am I the only one who found it utterly boring and bland. I felt no chemistry between the characters. They marketed it as being quirky that --the guy is submissive and it's about the non sexual aspect of BDSM-- that had got me excited but legit there was nothing more to it???!
I think I'd be fine even if they don't end up together. (Because life happened!) I just sincerely hope they don't kill off a character. I'd be devastated.
P.S. I am absolutely in love with the show, the vibe and the characters. In a very long time does it feel painful yet fun to wait for the next episode!!
This is so so true. The somewhat depth of character and morally gray areas they attempted to show in the first few episodes really made me feel like the show had great potential. I loved the actors and the story but the lack of depth of character in thr writing is what ruined it for me. As you said, the imbalance! At one point it didn't even feel like it was set in prison.
Last 3 episodes got a bit boring and I hated how they gave reasoning for everything. I kind of understood what they were trying to put across but it wasn't done well at all.

I also can't see a reason to kill Yi Jin off. Not yet atleast.
