haha no. i wish i could. but if it get's international recognition chances are high my local theatres will show it like they do with most films from cannes
yeah ofc being selected at all is already an achievement. it's not the only korean film though, kim chang hoon's debut film hopeless (starring SJK) was also selected in a different category.
i just realized something that makes that entire ending scene so much better. when woojoo confessed she liked dongjin so much that she wished "everyone in the world would disappear and only the two of us would be left", they deliberately referenced that (or at least i think they did, because nothing in this drama is coincidental let's be real) in the ending scene! at first, woojoo spots dongjin among the crowd full of people, but then the scene cuts to them being completely alone on the stage, with everyone gone but only them left. masterful directing!!!
i knew it!! had a good gut feeling about this. baeksang can suck it because sjk is going straight to cannes š¤…
now i'm really convinced this movie is something special. the fact that he chose this as his debut as producer says enough. but also the fact that cannes chose this among many other upcoming krn films despite the director being practically unknown!
i knew it!! had a good gut feeling about this. baeksang can suck it because sjk is going straight to cannes š¤ he's also invited not only as actor but also producer!
This drama is simply captivating with great cinematography! It's slow pacing makes the drama so mesmerising, the…
yeah they actually had a hard time lol. in an interview they mentioned because they're such good friends and would usually be together and goof around, they decided to stay away from each other on set so they could settle into the emotions of the drama.
Tbh, this is where the one year timejump was the most logical and useful tool to use in a story because it allowed…
yes!! exactly how i felt. i don't even hate timejumps as much as most people do (all they need to do is give an ending enough closure and i'm happy) but it was definitely a wise choice to include one here.
I JUST FINISHED IT AND IM ON THE FLOOR I CANT BELIEVE ITS OVER?????????? these last eps really took a toll on…
and i have just got to say HOOOLY FUCK my heart felt 100% lighter during that very ending scene between woojoo and dongjin (the one we all feared so hard to be the "open ending" scene) at the busking event. i was already prepared for an abrupt cut to black - a simple ambiguous stare that'd leave us wondering what followed. but NO. the drama really came through and we saw them smiling with all their heart at each other, and lo and behold woojoo running into dongjin's arms full force ššš the goddamn relief i felt omg. it was such a beautiful scene to end it at too, they did that so well.
and i know some will be a little sad we didn't get to see them as a full happy couple in the end, but it's okay. the time skip was already long foreseen and inevitable, but in hindsight they really needed that. both dongjin and woojoo were able to finally breathe, give themselves the time and space to settle into the lives they'd be truly comfortable living. i love how woojoo has found such a liking to the fair business that she decided to stay in it, and that dongjin finally got to camp wherever and whenever he wanted. and i can't not talk about all the others too!! i am sooo glad that joon and hyesung became happy together and even though i would have been fine if they stayed friends, it was clear that jun was beginning to realize he felt differently about hyesung and finally stepped up his game and held her hand (the way i squealed - the handholding in this show is something special!!!) and when they showed them as an established couple bickering about getting married i couldn't be more fullfilled with way the ended their story. they are the most comfortable around each other, no matter how. i'm happy that minyoung too could finally move on and find her place, the drama did a phenomenal job at her arc; in the way it humanized and portrayed her character. call me weird, but i grew to like her in the end.
