Great article! I love most of the shows you listed. My journey into Asian Dramas did start with Meteor Garden (2018), thanks to Netflix. Shortly after I stumbled on a Wuxia/time traveling drama called The Eternal Love and quickly binged The Eternal Love II. I was entranced by the humor, the modern music, and a great love story between Xiao Tan and the 8th prince. Next, I finally tried the world of Korean Dramas with Reply 1997 (which wasn't my favorite), but soon after (and with MDL guidance) I found Goblin and that's when my obsession with Asian Dramas really started to flourish. I agree mainland China can't be beat in the Wuxia genre some of my all-time faves: Ten Mile Peach Blossoms, Ashes of Love, Nirvana in Fire and I eventually found The Untamed Wei Wuxian and Lan Wanji 4ever! I also do love the fluff: Love O2O, Love is Sweet and Go Go Squid! Back to Korean Dramas other faves of mine: What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, Crash Landing into You, Hotel Del Luna, Hospital Playlist, Sky Castle, W, and very recently Mr. Queen and Flower of Evil. Seriously, there's not enough time in the day to watch everything. I'm trying to watch some of the classics (The Heirs is a guilty pleasure), but there are so many new dramas that are amazing. I'm also waiting patiently for Kingdom III.
Great article! Will you add Street Dance of China Season 3? He's phenomenal on it, and his passion for dance really shines. Plus there's the mentor Hot Pot episodes. I think you really get to know more about him through this show. He's really in his element and gives great critics to all the dancers.
Just finished this drama and agree it doesn't need romance. I really, really enjoyed the gameplay drama and I'm not a gamer. I hope season 2 is produced with the current cast! Won't be the same without them!
Such excellent writing. Each week this show gets better and better. The pacing is great too. Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin are magnetic together! I've only been watching Korean dramas for a little over a year now and absolutely love Son Ye Jin. Is she this likable in every show/movie?
What a sweet drama. At times it became a little ridiculous, but it has a lot of heart. If you dno't like the main couple there are a lot of other characters whose story is developed. I will miss this as morning weekend viewing and I have a new respect for the publishing industry!
I love how this dramedy doesn't take itself seriously. If you try to describe this show, you'll sound as crazy as Xiao Tan! On paper it may sound crazy, but as the series evolves, you appreciate it more and more.
I love the leads, I love the soundtrack and all to crazy characters who are constantly plotting. This is a diamond in the rough and definitely worth your time.
