I don't know the criticism and expectation. I don't know anything about 100% loyalty of an adaptation to its original story. I think both actors are doing a great job. For a rom-com and an idol drama, the development and the foundation of the main characters' relationship has found its own justification and answers. Many scenes have served well to explain or supplement other scenes. Cause-and-effect is obvious.

You might not like the story line, that's okay. You might be disappointed, that's fine. But please avoid speaking like an almighty. Your giving strong comments accompanied with "everyone is entitled to their own opinions" simply is an act of contradiction. Not saying it's wrong though, it's merely a self-contradictory opinion, that's all!

Take it or leave it. It's good though, that the audience is having a lot of heated exchange.

This series is one of the better BL series out there and it deserves the hype. But for me there is one thing missing…
In my opinion, I don't know it's accidental or good acting, Win has performed the restrained and shy Tine towards Sarawat quite well (Tine shouldn't be shy in the story settings). My understanding is that Tine is unaware/slightly repulsive of the chemistry. The one-sidedness of Sarawat's feelings has been manifested earlier in the story and that, to me, has been nicely showcased. The chemistry started from Sarawat and slowly transitioned towards a clearer picture from both sides, when Tine decided to face his feelings. However, I do feel that, to understand the characters' development and inner world, you need to read the novel. The drama somehow moved too fast and sorta did not have a lot of time to "incubate" the chemistry. The subtlety is what I like about their chemistry, and this is similar to the novel. Maybe sometimes it's not the sparks that create the chemistry but the gradual build-up of trust and feelings.

Personally, I simply can't understand what's going on in Why R U. Somehow the only foundation of their chemistry is either confusion of their feelings or they're in a novel.

Can you just say you hate women and go?Why have all these negative stereotypes about women to justify why a "straight"…
I believe it's rather impossible to be politically correct all the time (no implication of political correctness as something negative / positive). OR simply, nothing can appeal to everyone in this world.

(Some spoilers)
I think the representations that you brought up are merely part of the development of the story but highly likely the drama simply does not describe using the same way as the novel. If the translation of the novel is rather accurate (I'm reading the Mandarin-translated novel on Weibo), I think that was just what Tine experienced in the past (as far as I understand, there is no element of undermining females at all).

Genuinely, even to mention that this is merely a rom-com, some might argue that certain things cannot be joked about. However, like I said, nothing can appeal to everyone. It is painful to see toxic depictions like that especially if someone has first hand experience of the negative consequences of these representations you mentioned (but here, it's just merely describing how certain girls are like). I think there isn't any explicit mention of whether the experience of those ex-girlfriends has directly driven Tine to like a guy nor has the experience given him negative stereotypes of girls. He only mentioned that he has not found the right one so he hopes to find the right one in the uni and he has never thought the "right one" this time will be something unexpected (a guy).

It is still true that many Thai shows (and many other romance / idol drama of any origin especially Chinese and Korean) still have a set paradigm of how certain characters should be (e.g. overly aggressive male lead and unreasonably innocent female lead) and how certain scenes / lines are produced, in ways that appeal to wide range of audience. That's the reality of TV shows, you can't produce something that is not going to be popular. However, that is also a "norm" that must be challenged - many people stick to social norm because they are afraid of being different.

To argue that these TV representations can be harmful, a lot of things are harmful too, e.g. smoking, SUGAR, alcohol, mean comments etc. Whether audience is wise enough to judge / whether audience care enough to think about stereotypes is solely dependent on the individual audience. We can be campaigning against disastrous stereotypes / inequalities but we can't rule how people should think. Education plays a huge role and undoubtedly media is responsible but education is not necessarily the most "fun" thing to a lot of people (like A LOT of people). Some people dismiss new information given to them. If there's too much educational content in a TV show, it makes it "boring". It's difficult to find the balance.

While I'm not supporting that negative depictions can be forgiven, it can be tolerated with different ways of understanding it. While I sometimes prefer righteousness than harmony, it's only a balance of both that will yield positive results. Well, just enjoy the TV show as an idol drama. Seriously, many Thai BLs are built upon cliche. Idol drama is a cliche. The idea of finding good looking people for a drama IS a cliche. Can't be right all the time I guess!

I like how you pinpointed that I said no need for you to be passive aggressive. I saw that there's a need because, like you suggested that it's not funny to joke about beating up, I genuinely felt you were employing imprudent words, which was none of my business. But no, I don't want to sashay away regardless whether my words matter to you. I just like to fight.

The first episode felt like it was going at 2x speed, everything was very fast, cliché and boring... Uninspired…
Well, you're entitled to your opinion but you could have chosen wiser and more prudent words to describe what you feel. Claiming things to be uninspired or lazy or pretty terrible is simply diminishing efforts made by others. And that claim is nothing short of beating up anyone physically, which, like you claimed, frankly stupid to be joked about.

Or you could have saved your bad reviews for later when you dive down the story line! And if you don't like it, you don't! No need to be so passive aggressive. But again, you're entitled to your opinion. As your profile suggest, you are looking forward to discussing!
