does the ML really love the fl? pls tell me before i dive in, i'm done with dramas where the MLs have called other intentions and don't really prioritise the fl, their ambitions are more imp. veery true in case of historical chinese dramas, ironically the second ML is the one who really loves the FL and is hotter than the ML

am i the only one who ships her with the emperor? his love is pure yet destructive not to mention he's so so hot. The ml is boring and not so attractive, he doesn't even love the FL as much as the emperor does. I don't understand why in historical cdramas the fl has to end up with the so called ml who is inferior to the second ml in every aspect. Im also a sucker for possessive guys so ;)

she does kinda falls for him but gets over soon after learning his selfish nature, also her make-up and outfits get more mature as time passes so it won't look weird in the future. It's more centered towards the FLs rise to power and the other concubines and their stories rather than romance.

He's so good-looking, I really wanted the FL to end up with him in Overlord :((

I'll recommend legend of qianqian

I've watched them both but frankly they didn't click with me much. Legend of dugu had an interesting premise but I was very disappointed when the girl I wanted to be the FL isn't the FL but some other girl is and as expected, the FL is naive, kind, innocent and righteous not to mention boring. She does have character development though, thankfully she doens't carry her dumb personality with her when she becomes the empress. It was okish but not a drama you can watch completely in one sitting, you need to skip a lot.
For queen dugu I was initially very excited because I love dramas where the MCs are in a position of power and authority. But, this turned out to be disappointing :(

the drama i thought of was very new, TBA one. I can't seem to find it but it was based on empress liu e
i personally wouldn't recommend palace of devotion, the acting and the actors were great and they obviously put a lot of money in the production and clothing but it lacked lustre and like you said, bad editing. such a waste though, i'd love to see a good drama on someone as formidable as empress liu e
