I think she is awesome, the way she put together the ending scenes in City Hall and Secret Garden, still brings tears to my eyes. Also, I do understand that there has to be a marriage between the writers and producers to create an awesome drama and the right actors to bring it to life. I think she may have been coupled with the same producer/s for City Hall and Secret Garden and may be with A Gentleman's Dignity as well.

Nice Article. I've seen My Girl, MGIAG, Greatest Love and You're Beautiful and I liked all of them. I like writer Kim Eun Suk who brought us – On Air, City Hall, Secret Garden and A Gentleman’s Dignity. I especially like how she ended City Hall and Secret Garden, she always brings you full circle - Love it! She has others such as South of the Sun, Lovers in Paris, Lovers in Prague, Lovers and a movie called Fly High but I haven't seen these yet.

I Loved it! Nothing wrong with a make you smile and feel good RomCom. I especially loved the secondary coupling of the panda eyed Kim Seul Gi and Go Kyung Pyo.

Like you, I saw the anime first then searched to see if there was a live action by the same name and found Itazura Na Kiss. I think I found ISWAK/TKA second and loved them. Later I found and watched Playful Kiss and I liked it as well. I would rate ISWAK/TKA as the best of the three with Playful Kiss second and Itazura Na Kiss last. These dramas and Nodame Cantabile were the first Asian dramas I watched and now I am totally addicted. :)

I love both the 2007 and the 2011 Remake. The 2007 version had a great cast. Loved the characters, the relationships, the dorm competitions and the humor. Loved Oguri/Sano's sometimes awkward behavior around Mizuki and this one probably had the best characterization of Nakatsu. I smiled all through the Remake. Again we have a great cast. Perhaps the humor is more inviting. I think I liked the doctor best in this one (the doctor is one of my favorite characters)and I certainly found the ending the best in this one. I love how the doctor recorded her comments on how she felt about everyone and later played back for all to hear with the tape breaking off just as she mentions Sano's name. I would place the Taiwanese version third it also had an excellent cast and poor Jiro/Nakatsu so torn and confused over his feeling for Lu Rui Xi aka Mizuki, just did not like the ending. K version last.

I saw the anime first and when it came to the last episode and said the End, I went "what do you mean the end? this can't be the end." That's when I discovered the manga. The manga is great and the latest chapters are awesome. The anime is very close to the manga and the drama stuck close to both giving us a little fantasy ending because we don't have a real ending yet as the manga is ongoing. I like the tea ceremony scene and Mio's scene better in the anime but overall I think I like the drama best of the two. I thought the casting was almost perfect for the characters they played. There were some scenes where I felt the manga had come to life. I would like to see both a Japanese and Korean version of the manga and I hope they include, Vie Ghoul,Sho's V Day kiss, Kyoko acting as Kuon and of course, the Heel Siblings. What!? I don't want much! :)

I came across a YT ng on one of the kiss scenes for BBF and the director tells LMH not to open his mouth on the kiss... But as you noted these were supposed to be high school students.. You certainly can't beat his sweet and seductive kisses in Personal Taste.

I'm still laughing over the dementor kiss ending and the telepathic ending... LMAO. I love Faith, thought it was well scripted and the actors were incredible and the ending, well it was just a "sigh" "finally, together". Since I love the drama I can accept the ending even if I would have appreciated a little more emotion, like even laughter and tears... I hated the ending to "Sign" did you see that one? What would you call that type of ending I wonder. Thanks for the article, I enjoyed it.

It Started with a Kiss, Nodame Cantabile,Itazura Na Kiss - I think those were the first three. Dummy me, I didn't know the dramas were out there until I was searching for a manga and stumbled on the drama.

You pretty much nailed all the ones I hated and I have to laugh at the blood lust they can bring to the surface. Kudos to the actors and actresses that made us hate them, because didn't they give us a magnificent performance!

I liked it. It's heavy on the comedy (which I don't really care for) and a little slow to get started, but I enjoyed the story and the characters and how it all turned out. I would say it is worth watching and I think you will enjoy it.

Hana Yori Dango, was also my favorite. The acting and story line was probably the best and I love how we get a full circle love story.

Boys Over Flowers you're captured by the quality of the production, musical score and yes the good looking guys. Unfortunately I never felt the love from Jan Di played by Koo Hye Soon. When Jun Pyo comes back after being away for 4 yrs, she?s like, ?oh, so your back?. One of the glaring scenes that shows the difference between HYD and BOF is the blizzard rescue scene. HYD wins hands down with BOF being almost laughable. Don?t get me wrong I still Love BOF.

With Meteor Garden the first thing I have to get past is the background noise. But before you know it the characters have you caught, drawing on your emotions and completely involving you in the drama. This is a really good drama and might even draw on your emotions stronger than the other two.

Love your topics.

The Shameful parent at the top of my Love to Hate list would have to be Goo Joon Pyo?s mother, Kang Hee Soo played by Lee Hye Young. Boys Over Flowers also had your Noble Idiot in the character of Geum Jan Di played by Koo Hye Sun.

As to Crazy B?? let?s not forget Yoon Joo played by Park Ye Jin in My Princess.

I don?t know if this qualifies as a ?Trope? but I really like it when the other woman turns out not to be the Big B, like Yeun-Sul played by Kim Sa Rang in Secret Garden and Seo Na-Yoon played by Wang Ji Hye in Protect the Boss.
