Chemistry of the Year
Absolutely relentless and captivating. It had been a while — perhaps since Revenged Love — that a BL series fascinated me this much. Honestly, this series is incredible; usually, period BLs don't tend to captivate me all that much.
Especially those with a soap-opera-style narrative. They often end up being overly dramatic, with tedious, drawn-out storytelling and low-budget production values.
The Edge of Tomorrow delivers the exact opposite. The acting is extraordinary, and the chemistry between Thinnakon and Phob is so palpable you can feel it just by the way they look at each other.
But the series' greatest strength is its ability to tell a story rich in nuance and events—blending fiction and reality—in a way that is fluid, entertaining, tense, and captivating.
The production is amazing, the direction strikes the perfect tone, and the script balances the characters beautifully. Their romance gets the spotlight it deserves without overshadowing the main plot.
It is also incredibly refreshing to see a series unafraid to place its protagonists on such opposite sides of a conflict.
The ending, like that of almost every BL, didn't quite win me over. I feel there was a lack of boldness in resolving certain conflicts, while others felt rushed and poorly resolved.
Yet, there is no denying that Thinnakon and Phob delivered stunning scenes and incredible chemistry, taking us on a fascinating, dramatic, and emotional journey.
