First Impression: Life in Smokey Blue

Overall: I was into the vibe. Based on a manga which I haven't read and am reviewing the series based on its own merits. Airing on GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/6550/life-in-smokey-blue-2026-e01 (not in Taiwan, Japan or Korea) as well as FOD and TVer (Japan)

Content Warning: drugging

What I Liked
- characters who weren't in high school or college
- that 1 character went for it in the present
- production value

Room For Improvement
- nervous about what happened in the past

abuse

Overall: abusive characters were abusive. 18 episodes about 5 minutes each. Aired on 欧芝居 YouTube channel https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNYcOUpIAiIkfPSoVrxOT8YDD3V2rjs-m&si=MymiwAhc6uAAmY_X

Content Warning: multiple slaps, held against will, sexual assault, past child abuse, coercion, repeated rape, drugging, suicide shown, past deaths/murder, blood

What I Liked
- episodes 10, 11 and 12 up to 3 minutes
- I did chuckle when the bodyguard interrupted 2 guys kissing and the 1 guy punched the bodyguard

Room For Improvement
- the side couple was terrible, repeated abuse then a ray of niceness and even after the guy is awful the other guy suddenly loves him, super sad that he killed himself
- a main character is 17 years old and the other character destroyed something he loved on purpose, slapped the 17 year old and treated him like crap for a lot of the series
- are they biological brothers? step brothers? (hoping it's step brothers, update, I was never clear what they were)
- character shows up in episode 17 to do an exposition dump

Your Dear Tea Farm

Overall: this is more a slice of life and less spicy romance. Based on a book which I haven't read and I am reviewing the series on its own merits. 8 episodes about 45 minutes each. Airing on iQIYI https://www.iq.com/play/your-dear-daddy-episode-1-v94mtn7i5g?lang=en_us

Content Warning: non con picture taking/sharing

Watch Suggestions (to focus more on the m/m couple and less on tea farm life)
- watch episodes 1
- episode 2 skip 20:20-24, skip 40:10-46
- episode 3 watch 18:15 to 20:40 and 40:15-45
- episode 4 watch beginning-1:25, 11:30-17:50, 22-35, 37:15-45

What I Liked
- Saitharn knows what he likes
- easy to understand premise
- get to see Fluke again!

Room For Improvement
- comedy sound effects did not make things funny
- this was sold as a romance but the leads didn't talk until 18 minutes in of episode 3 and only had a few minutes together for the entire episode

First Impression: Magic Move

Overall: there was something endearing about the first episode, though I watched with the sound turned down to tune out some of the comedy sound effects. 10 episodes about 45 minutes each. Airing on iQIYI https://www.iq.com/play/magic-move-episode-1-1akg1uvb3g4?lang=en_us

What I Liked
- it was funny how he got into fortune telling (though he's going to need to slow down lol)
- the dream in episode 1

Room For Improvement
- the elevator scene was odd
- constant comedy sound effects

a soap opera (side BL couple)

Overall: I saw this on a BL list and decided to watch it although it doesn't have English subtitles. I watched the first 2 episodes and the last episode. Unfortunately the sweet established m/m couple breaks up in the final episode (at least they both seem to move on/be happy) but that made me not want to go back and watch all of the episodes especially because I didn't understand most of what they were saying. Watched (not subtitled) on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLh45VQur4AvofKLgui5nvD9m96BiIlu8V

Content Warnings: murder/death, held against will, attempted kidnapping, intimate partner abuse, violence, blood (likely more)

M/M couple scenes (from episodes that I watched)
- episode 1 part 5 4:15-end
- episode 2 beginning-2 min
- (they broke up at the beginning of episode 32)

First Impression: Love Upon a Time

Overall: I like the premise, though I'm a bit nervous with the comedy style. This is based on a book of the same title which I haven't read and am reviewing the series based on its own merits. 12 episodes about 1 hour long each. Airing on iQIYI https://www.iq.com/play/love-upon-a-time-episode-1-21xrp4m0blk?lang=en_us

Content Warnings: past attempted murder?, punch, blood

What I Liked
- the premise
- seeing familiar faces again
- I chuckled a couple times

Room For Improvement
- the trans woman/non binary character as comedy stereotype
- comedy sound effects did not make things funny
- nervous about the pacing

First Impression: Love Class season 3

Overall: I'm intrigued. You do not need to have watched seasons 1 or 2, they operate separately from each other. Airing on GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/7600/love-class-2026 (not in the Americas, Europe, Oceania, Middle East, Japan, and Korea) and Viki https://www.viki.com/tv/41421c-love-class-3

What I Liked
- visuals/styling
- some mystery

Room For Improvement
- comedy sound effects
- a bit confused in episode 2 what was flashback vs present
- hope there wasn't a noble idiot trope

overcoming fear to love

Overall: I enjoyed their different personalities, but wish the tutor character had been handled differently. Based on the manga Contrast by itz which I haven't read and I reviewed the series based on its own merits. 8 episodes about 22 minutes each. Aired on GagOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/6368/contrast-2026 (not available in Korea or Japan) and FOD in Japan.

Content Warnings: tutor/student, over 18/under 18, possible grooming, past bullying

Watch Suggestions (I think this takes out the creepy tutor and focused more on the 2 leads)
- watch episode 1
- episode 2 skip 3:30-4:20 and 20:45-end
- episode 3 start at 3:15
- episode 4 skip 7:30-12, and stop at 21:40
- episode 5 start at 15
- episode 5 stop at 21:45
- episode 6 start at 4:30
- episode 7 skip 3:45-8, sip 13:20-18:30 and 20:30-23:40
- episode 8 start at 1:20

What I Liked
- easy to understand premise
- different personalities
- layered characters

Room For Improvement
- felt the writing was saying it was okay what the tutor did, they mention a 5 year age gap and guessing they are now 18 & 23, they mentioned the tutoring started at the end of middle school which goes 3 years (and then high school 3 years) so the younger guy was likely 15 and the older guy was 20 which is super gross, the older guy knows it was wrong which is why he never told the brother
- multiple cliche running scenes
- rushed ending
- dead fish lip presses

- the documentary/mockumentary style

Overall: in spite of some nonsense plot, I still enjoy the series overall. 8 episodes about 40 minutes each. Airing on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-CpzQszt3GyMqPTQVMO_rbvSt6-YUvAg

Content Warning: non/dub con kiss, punch

What I Like
- beachy/relaxed setting
- sweet moments

Room For Improvement
- timeline/what was happening was a bit confusing in the beginning but it was cleared up in episode 1 part 4
- unethical doctor and terrible brother
- nonsense stuff: why didn't a main character have a journal or video diary, why wouldn't him and the other ML come up with a plan as they could have easily guessed what would happen the next morning

First Impression: Fourever You Part 2

Overall: 3 separate stories 8 episodes each. It doesn't seem that viewers need to have watched season/part 1 to understand this season/part. Episode 1 uncut on WeTV was 54 minutes https://wetv.vip/en/play/pzk4qf2zu5td6gr/i4101vqq2o6-EP01%3A_Fourever_You_Part_2_(Uncut_Ver.) and cut on WeTV was 47 minutes https://wetv.vip/en/play/4uq2ihehg6vxvbl/l4101vmnija-EP01A%3A_Fourever_You_Part_2 (I could not tell what was cut in episode 1). Wish they aired 2 episodes each week.

1st Arc - Phoon & Fah (dynamic: childhood friends, separated and then reunited)
Content Warnings: a major one that happened in the past, I'm keeping this review spoiler free for now, episode 1 start at 31 minutes uncut to skip most of the warnings
I can tell this will be a heavier plot and I'm wondering why there was no contact for 4? years. Enjoyed the first episode

historical series with a heart (watch suggestions)

Overall: a character's conversation with her dad put this into an 8.5 rating. 8 episodes about 24 minutes each. Aired on Final Draft Creation YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKKpOS7I2FuuT-WpSyl4LwS9KS2SmTO6A (the playlist was missing 2 episodes but they were available on their channel)

Content Warnings: violence, death, grief, homophobia, sexism, coercion

Watch Suggestions (to cut out content warnings and love rivals)
- watch episode 1
- skip episode 2 parts 2 and 3
- start ep 3 part 1 at 5 min, watch parts 2 and 3
- skip episode 4
- skip episode 5 part 1, watch episode 5 part 2, stop part 3 at 5:45
- watch episode 6 part 1 1:05 to 2:05, skip part 2, watch part 3 beginning to 2:05 and 5:05-end
- watch episode 7 part 1, stop part 2 at 2:40, skip part 3
- skip episode 8 parts 1 and 2, watch part 3

What I Liked
- antagonists had their reasons and a woman's conversation with her dad that it was his and society's fault was stellar
- costumes
- historical setting
- learned about Khon
- realistic ending in the past (see the spoiler comment)

Room For Improvement
- no clear distinction between present and past (think it happened at 3:45 in part 1), it was more clear to me with later time jumps
- love rivals (though I appreciated how they weren't cookie cutter and had reasons for their actions)
- wish the present day was less of an open ending

better than the first season

Overall: I liked the second season more than the first, but wish they had had more screen time together https://kisskh.at/profile/blcompilations/review/380647 - 10 episodes about 24 minutes each. Aired on GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/6153/cosmetic-playlover-2024-s02e01 (not available in Japan or Korea)

Watch Suggestions (to focus more on the couple's relationship)
- watch episode 1
- episode 2 watch 8-9:40, 15:30-23:20
- skip 3 and 4
- episode 5 watch 17:45-end
- episode 6 watch beginning -3:45, 6:30-10:40 and 19-20:50
- watch episode 7
- episode 8 watch beginning-6:15, 15.40-18.30
- episode 9 watch 23:10-end
- watch episode 10

What I Liked
- kiss was realistic for an established couple (ie no dead fish lip press) in episode 1, (there was an odd lack of hands though in the finale)
- sweet and caring moments
- episode 7
- avoided a cliche (they actually communicated with each other in episode 2) and I was happy with the ending

Room For Improvement
- neutral on interspersed flashbacks from season 1
- love rival
- hanging out with the dad when he knew his boyfriend didn't want him to

okay vertical series

Overall: it was a confusing/slow start and the plot never grabbed me. Could start this at the eps 61-68 compilation. Aired 77 short (couple minute) episodes on the VBL Series YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsvZaVybjXZcytdex6AFISdzKixXOTguq

Content Warning: manhandling, non con kiss

What I Liked
- the leads from Fight For You (they had good chemistry)
- visuals

Room For Improvement
- the first 7 episodes didn't hook me (it was a flashback to a movie they filmed, not a good way to start)
- the plot never grabbed me
- side couple had past poor communication trope
