I can definitely see rating it higher, I was really torn with this one. "The green flag version of My Stubborn" is a very apt comparison.

Hey, I'm glad you enjoyed the series. This series didn't work for me, but I'm happy it worked for you.

No review of fictional media is completely objective. We all have different experiences which change the lens of how we view things. I did not feel that I was particularly emotional when I wrote this review and I'm open to changing my final review depending on how the rest of the series goes. I did not hear that FP told us to expect a bittersweet ending, I don't know how my review undermines all of their work. There are 4 other more positive reviews for the production and others to read and enjoy.

yes, the "gay for you" trope feels homophobic and the bad communication trope drives me nuts

Yes, the first few episodes are free. The rest need an iQIYI subscription (and to watch on the app) which I have.

I think they tried, maybe it was better explained in the book. They do feel on more equal footing at the end.

in the past their ending was tragic, in 1947 they had a happily ever after though 1 character's soul took over his doppleganger's body and then there is a time jump to present with an open ending but implied they will have a happily ever after
