I found myself bored by some of the plots, in particular the younger sister < honestly think her story was…
Yes, I think the younger sister plot was the weakest. The m/m romance was one of my favorites and I like how they discussed social issues not shown as much in media hence my high rating.
To my knowledge this is the first movie from Japan with m/m romance and dancing (and I can only think of 1 other…
I don't think those from the industry are going to be influenced by my or others MDL reviews though if they are, there are a wide range of reviews/perspectives for them to draw from. I see everything from 2-10 on 10Dance. All reviews are subjective, they are based on our experiences and what we value. I value that the movie tried something different from what we've seen before.
Also, thinking more about it, there is a lot of subtext that some people might not be used to and might rate it lower. I added internalized homophobia because I think Sugiki Shinya had a ton of internalized homophobia in particular. He also wanted to control everything and did not want to be vulnerable. These things weren't explicitly stated, a viewer has to make inferences. I did not take off points for that kind of subtlety; however, I can see how others who want things more clearly defined would take off points.
You stated more things that you didn't like and still gave it a 9.5? what about the story, character depth? its…
To my knowledge this is the first movie from Japan with m/m romance and dancing (and I can only think of 1 other movie from any other country focused on dance and that one did not end with the guys together iirc) so I gave it a major rating bump. I can absolutely see people rating it lower for the reasons you mentioned.
I re-watched ep 1 and you're right, he asks him where he's been almost right away (updated my review) but Mr.…
or she lied and for some bizarre reason and Kin trusted a stranger instead of someone he knew and loved for years?!??? it makes no sense, the kind of fiction writing that I dislike
Well Than did ask Kin several times why he disappeared but still Kin refuse to talk about the past. Is just a…
I re-watched ep 1 and you're right, he asks him where he's been almost right away (updated my review) but Mr. dum dum (because I'm sure he did some noble idiot trope in the past that caused way more hurt than being honest/seeking communication) is still on my sh*t list
Alan is an old man with dementia. Win did exist and they were romantic partners, but Win died of leukemia. Alex is Win and Alan's son. In the final episode, Alan learns that he has dementia and everything related to Win from previous episodes was in his imagination. Alan dies of natural causes at the end and we see him and Win reunited in the afterlife. Ophat and Pete are boyfriends. Alex and Nin are not together though Alex wanted them to be.
