Should I continue The Bridal Mask? I almost dropped it at episode 2 because I'm very annoyed by the exaggeration, notably, in the acting... Does it gets clever as episodes passes by? Why did you completed it? I valorize your opinion because your list speak to my tastes... :)
What a masterpiece...! I've just finished watching it for the second time (know that I hate wasting my time and have a PTW and an 'On hold' list as long as the U.S. Route 66... I never usually rewatch dramas)! Writing at its finest quality! Some minor defects mostly dues to the outdated 2010's cliches and to the shots and the low cost interiors that didn't age well. Maybe a little too much tears and 'makjang' moments. BUT the politics, the truely badass FL (instead of those so-called badass FL that are actually useless), the Emperor's character development, the cleverness and rationality of every characters (!!!), their complexity and realism, the formidable vilains... In 51 episodes, there's brain, there's heart, there's visceral suspens... What a rare and blessed moment in K-dramas!
Many qualities (cinematography, acting, chemistry, fight choreography, music...) but also damn shallow. Like a pretty and fascinating shell. Maybe as a full-length drama it would repair the lack of coherence and depth of the story (and if they tone down the close-ups on the crying bishonen over the overly dramatic music).
