I simply love the costumes and hairstyles in this drama, they are all so gorgeous! And after rewatching the first few episodes, it just occurred to me how much more immature Xuanji looked and acted. Her hairstyle was one of a young girl's, she was totally naive and her voice was really chirpy. They did a great job of showing how Xuanji matured as time went on.
Kind of weird how much the reception for Meteor Garden 2018 in China and internationally differs so much. Here, it's really popular and many people love it, but on Douban, 37,000 people rated it 3.3. The original Meteor Garden had a much higher score of 8. 2 with 82000 rating it. I guess this drama didn't meet fans' requirements. For me, honestly, this drama really wasn't anything special. I enjoyed the story at the beginning, but it just got more and more boring, but I somehow finished it... I guess the chemistry and acting just didn't meet my requirements. Just my thoughts, please don't get offended if you love this drama.

I 100% agree. And it's extremely frustrating since this happens in so many Chinese dramas. The sects are claiming to be good even though they're the ones with the most blood on their hands and always just standing there when actual evil is presented in front of them. I mean, they are good in one way: Pretending to be good and then revealing their real selves.
