yeah, Meng Xing Chang An is not going to be very popular. (I mean, it will be pretty popular, but its popularity will not even be close to L&R's.)
If Cheng Yi and Yuan Bingyan were dating, the Chinese entertainment world would be in chaos. I'm not saying that I won't be super duper very really excited and start jumping up and down and taking to my teachers in Mandarin for the whole day if they do, because I will, but there's a 90% chance they will not. (saving that 10% for my dreams)
First, is their agency. They would not allow it. Even if Bingyan leaves Huan Rui Trash, Cheng Yi is still part of it.
Second, are the fans. Most people love L&R and the beloved Chu Yu Couple, but it's impossible to not have haters and people who simply find pleasure in ruining someone else's self-confidence and reputation, especially if they are famous. It's actually more common than you would think. So yeah, the haters are not going to make it easy for them at all.
Third, most co-stars do not date. Yeah, we have Zheng Shuang and Hans Zhang, Zhao Liying and Feng Shaoyang, Wallace Huo and Ruby Lin and some more, but that's the very small percentage. (and Zheng Shuang and Hans Zhang broke up.) Acting as characters who have feelings for each other do not mean that they will in real life. It just shows how amazing their acting skills are.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to attack you. And I hope you won't see it like that. I just wrote three reasons so that people will understand this and not be disappointed if they never date.
But we can always ship them! That doesn't hurt!
But when you ship actors, do not put your hopes too high, because the ships don't work 95% of the time.
