Rant incomingโฆ.I maintain that the โSummerโ and tennis storylines are both aggressively uninteresting. Like…
I agree. I think the writers really thought they hit it right out of the park with their second couple looking at how much production materials is needed to shoot the scenes of their ambitions.
Little did they know we really could not care less about the bland story of another straight couple. The writers can say Heesu's name is literally in the title and hence he is the lead till the cows come home but let's be honest, there are 4 leads competing for screentime.
I understand if you don't like the drama's story after reading the original webtoon, but...As someone who has…
I think the main concern is because an original webtoon is exist hence it is upsetting for people. Plus the erasure of other LGBT representations present in the source material is kind of insulting in a way because our community has been through this countless of times, not in fiction but in real life.
If the series is its own original story, so be it. But since it is piggybacking off of a successful queer webtoon, they must uphold a responsibility.
When I say the visuals of these 4 are impeccable.........!!!!
On a more serious note main couple has the most random situations thrown at them. It is like the writers say GIVE THEM HELL and let's see how they work things out. A complete and utter mess.
ep 7 is a treat because we are finally seeing some progress haha
on a side note the song that is playing in the background "breakaway~ I am here, with you~" I always thought that "breakaway~ I am here, to stay~" would be a better lyric ๐๐๐
I watched the show until now and pretty much enjoyed it thoroughly and came here to see what others think and I was surprised that so many people is criticising the series. I always thought the second couple is a plot device to drive the main couple's relationship and never really thought much of it (even though I do find their screentime are a bit too much).
I didn't read the webtoon hence I don't know the original work. Come to learn that the source material have other LGBT representation that they could have pulled made me think that it is a big missed opportunity. As someone queer, seeing this happen makes me feel rather complicated and conflicted, like we are being erased once again.
To the people who think that others being upset is overreacting please put yourself in others' shoes. We are so used to seeing a straight couple on screen so why are we putting the spotlight on it once again? It does seems like they are using the LGBT trope and manhwa adaption as an easy way of earning money. To me all criticism is towards the media industry for making these decisions and I find it extremely valid.
I still enjoy the series but this thought at the end of my mind can never go away.
I was thinking to myself after this ep that this is chaotic in the best way possible and im glad most of the people shared the same sentiment as me ๐๐๐
Ji Hun is slow as fuck but Ba Woo is not exactly helping the relationship to go anywhere... he can tell a strange…
I think Ba Woo probably has had lots of PTSD of how slow Ji Hun is and this is probably the most important and complicated situation they have been in together that's why ๐๐๐
I wouldn't dig that deep lol. I think he's just inexperienced. Now that you mentioned "off", CJH kinda resembles…
I was a bit confused when you said CJH resembles Gun Atp until I realised the actor playing Min Jun real name's initials is also CSH ๐! Maybe I should have typed out their names in the first place instead. But YES Min Jun resembles Gun Atp for sure.
there is something OFF about the actor playing Jin Hwan. Like something behind his eyes tells me that he kinda don't wanna act in this drama but it is a good gig for his career or sth.
I don't think I can continue to defend this series haha. Ep 9 have so many random moments that came out of nowhere and this episode really make all the writing flaws stand out.
With that being said, seeing Wang Zhan trying to force a tear out is quite funny and I was entertained ๐คฃ
Maybe we don't judge this series by the same standards like other series with deeper meaning topics. I watch with…
you are right about the series being a light fun watch for sure! I guess I just want it to be good because Mandarin is my first language, so I am more critical on it. There is something amiss that I could not put my finger on it for now but I will still continue the series x
I'm actually quite surprise that many people like this ๐ฎ there is something amiss about this show - like I can already tell from these two episodes that the writing this going to be all over the place and the acting is just.......
I must say props to the actors trying to carry this writing.. nonetheless I still enjoyed watching the show maybe because it is in my first language ๐
Small details like the awkward cutting and random music queuing can be improved but I can see what the director's intentions were. Overall the actors did a fantastic job~ Shao Peng entire family are cuties and Zi Xiang needs to be protected at all costs! Secondary couple is a fun time! The main 'villain' played by Nat Chen motivations are rather unclear and out of nowhere (coming from someone who is fluent in Mandarin) but nonetheless he made it work haha. ๐ On the other hand I thoroughly enjoy the secondary 'villain' played by Yu Fan! ๐ Ep 13 is really the crash course whereby everything pans out. A part of me hope that it can be spread to the other episodes so that it can have a better flow. But with that being said there is something about the imperfections that kind of made everything perfect at the same time!
I am sorry to hear that. I wish that you find your pair and the people who accept your sexuality. Lots of Love…
Hi Roy thank you so much for your well wishes! This BL definitely hits different as I can relate with it on so many levels. Pardon my emotional response. ๐ฅฒ๐ฅฒ
this is the BEST Japanese BL drama imo! Ep 11 is my favourite as it depicts the reality of LGBT people like me face. Be it friends or family, it is not as easy to come out to them even though we have known them for years and years. The fear of rejection is really dire and a constant challenge for us especially in countries where our sexuality are deem to be abnormal and we will face criticism just because of it. Sure, we got the choice to choose who we want to surround ourselves with but in reality it is really not an easy feat and comes with lots of sacrifices.
