i want to watch this but see much negative opinions on it yet it was so popular in china.
It is 100% worth the watch.
Ep 1-44(approximately) = 10/10 Ep 45-58(ending) = 8/10
The later episodes get a little draggy, but it's nothing major in my opinion.
The main reason why people started giving the drama low ratings is because they were unsatisfied with the ending, which is silly because it's obvious that it's not the official ending. It's just a cliffhanger. They probably just needed a second season to cover everything. Before ep 58 came out, I think the rating was around 9.
Guys, I don't know if I can make it to the end, I'm not equipped to handle this! We're seeing our…
I thought Li'er and the king's child would serve as a link between them so I had my hopes up that they wouldn't separate when her pregnancy was revealed. But now that their baby is gone... they actually might break apart..
Time to face facts: Only Senior Han is husband material.
He had me cheering him on when he stood up to the king ep 35 & 36.
Jing Ke and the King both have some flaws, but Han Shen is perfect. I hope it ends well for him...
Is it me only or what but I honestly didn't like the second otp at all like it's feels so unreal n plus…
I didn't either.
It's cute and all, but it took up a lot of time that could've been used better(like BQ & YH scenes). Which is fine if it had a more satisfying ending(like Dijun fighting to be with Fengjiu), but that isn't the case. Well I guess it had to remain true to the novel...
and am starting to get the feel of second lead syndrome..i mean come on the dude who have the things on his forehead…
That's exactly how I felt at first
But the more I watch Mark Chao playing as Ye Hua, the more I was mesmerized, by both his personality and appearance. In the end I was glad Bai Qian chose him over Li Jing.
I liked Zhang Vin(Li Jing) as well though. Watching "The King's Woman", where I hope he'll have a happy outcome with the female lead
You know, I just can't really bring myself to fully like the King. I mean he did force her to marry him and…
He's been neglected for much of his life and never had someone who he could truly trust. His actions are understandable given the circumstances, and he's going to learn to let go of that domineering attitude in order to win Gongsun Li.
I'm at episode 18 right now and the plot is really starting to annoy me, especially with how Gong Sun Li & Han don't just confess their relationship. Instead, Han comes up with some bullshit that he abducted her. I can understand Han not confessing because he doesn't want to implicate Sun Li in any way, but this girl is just plain stupid if she doesn't confess. Does she really think that confessing that Han is just her senior(who is looking after her & protecting her) will harm him more than the lie that he is a filthy criminal that tried to rape her? Really? Wtf.
And Jing Ke is acting like a manchild. Am I supposed to feel sorry for him? He treats everyone like shit just because of his frustration?
At this point I feel like this drama is only worth watching for the king. Gong Sun Li & Jing Ke have become really frustrating to watch.
Edit: Ok, she confessed later. Still stupid of her to not confess earlier(and he had to go through torture). How would it harm Han Shen in any way if she confessed that he's her senior?
I don't understand why some people started giving this drama poor reviews just because of the ending. That's not the official ending, obviously there will be a season 2.
If there is a season 2 (there most likely will be), I think it's reasonable for season 1 to focus on Yan Xun more, then shift focus to YWY season 2.

Which is a shame because the actors & actresses do a really good job... the writers are just very bad -.-

I thought she might be the grandmother of the king, but she mentioned that she never had a child and she looks a bit too young to be his grandmother.
I don't know how the King could possibly make up for all this. The whipping scene was really difficult to watch.
I hate seeing the king now more than even the old Jing Ke(more tolerable now), and that should say a lot...

Only when he starts letting go of that domineering attitude of his does Gongsun Li start to like him.
It's just part of character development. Nobody starts out perfect, and the King in this drama is no exception.
