There needs to be a meme for everytime something happens. Every time shiz happens it's all Feng Xi's fault automatically then oh no it's not! We should have believed him!! This repeated throughout the series sums up the series...sadly
To sum the negative comments up: Some are talking about the age gap in the novel vs the TV series. Some think Zhao Li Ying looks old.
My thoughts: Fun series, many encounters along the way and loss and gains and growth. Li Ying doesn't look old. She just has bags. [ Many actors/actresses have bags. This is the film life. It's more obvious on females usually. I've started to call them bags of honor. It's tough filming. I used to not understand. But once you experience film yourself, you understand. Those without bags are fortunate. Zhao Li Ying also filmed 300/365 days a year for 9 years in order to get to where she is today. Nine years! Nowadays when I see an actress or actor, I don't comment negatively on their looks like I would have in my ignorant younger years. We should admire their time, effort, and craft] I see chemistry, just that Li Ying's character is kind of tsuntsun lol.
Lai Yi's character is indeed 刀子嘴豆腐心. He's also very conflicted and learning to adapt etc., while also being awkward and clumsy at dealing with his emotions and courting Long Ao Yi. I think Lai Yi expressed this very well. He captures the subtlety of expressions and emotions. As always, he has improved his acting even more. Every role gets richer.
The pacing of this story for me is very enjoyable. We get to see things between when shit goes down etc. Not just the A and B are in trouble, then bam all is fine. We see the day to day interactions. This series is not for those who are currently in the mood for fast and furious kind of action action action or bambambam. This is for those in the mood for a story that takes time. If you're not in the mood, don't watch this. Come back later. Then come enjoy.
The female lead tryna expose him for being a mermaid kinda makes me feel weird (invasion of his privacy, nosy, etc), but all in all her acting after holding out for 1-2 episodes reminds me of 2000's Taiwanese dramas. If you haven't' watched any...she may be unbearable but I think this is fine......she does something similar to Blackface... in episode 6 imo....she covers her face in I think it was soot, and acts like she's a foreigner...
Overall...I'm given the impression this girl has no idea about the law and question her supposedly graduating university...her logic etc.....
she goes back to the real world and gets drunk in her car, and an officer who looks like Lu Li arrests her and brings her to the police station. I would like to think it's Lu Li...but he has no recollection and logically isn't him, so wat u guys think?
Funfact: the ML IRL is a really shy and quiet dude
