I am not throwing shade on them. I'm not saying that everyone who voted for them are cos of them being black, but there are people who wished more black actors won for lead, so they found these performances good enough to make them win. Just tying back to the original thread about if Youn Yuh-jung could have won if people were not voting for her cos of diversity reasons.

Oscars is all about the sentiment sometimes. It's very hard to say who can win in a different year. But if you look at history, her character actually fits some of the winners that Oscars had awarded before. Some people have liken her character similar to Alan Arkin's character in Little Miss Sunshine. The elderly in the family who is a standout in a small movie with critics getting behind the movie. Her previous speeches when winning definitely help in people getting her appeal. So she might still have won in a different year. As much as the Academy might want to impose about diversity, in the end, it relies on members who vote and they can vote however they want since it's anonymous and not juried. There were people who wanted Chadwick Boseman and also Viola Davis/Andra Day to win cos they were black but ultimately, they didn't get the majority votes also to win. I'm glad she ultimately won though cos there were a lot of reasons for people to vote for anyone. There were enough anonymous Oscar ballots also that seems to be enamored by her and her character so I do believe there were enough people who just like her performance

Kim Seo Hyung wasn't eligible since her drama was eligible last year. this year's baeksang is for dramas premiering between may 1 2020 and apr 11 2021. she wasn't nominated last year though. she did get nominated for sky castle but uhm jung hwa won instead

for Best New Actress and Actor, as long they have not been nominated for a previous award in Baeksang, they are eligible. For lead and supporting categories, i guess the jury makes the decision as whether they falls into probably.

Baeksang awards covers dramas between May 1, 2020 and April 11, 2021. as long 1/3 or at least 4 episodes have been released during that duration, it is counted too. that's why vincenzo is eligible

if u go in expecting a variety show, you will be disappointed. i have to switch my mindset to view it as a drama from s1 to enjoy it a bit more. being said, i do like the storylines and i like it was short. but finishing this, i'm happy to go back to watching the normal variety shows where there are less scripted scenes.

most kdramas film a few eps only before their premiere so that's why a number of them are being postponed or some having finales pushed back because of the covid cases

i don't think there seems to be any confirmed date. i did look up the korean wiki and it said september 23 but since there is no english article, not sure if that's confirmed

it's not subbed officially on any official streaming sites. i just watched it without subs and just focused on performances
