I sincerely disagree with everybody that says the pacing of this show is too quick, or that this episode emphasises the flaws of this show.
I think this show is a lot slower and a lot more meditative than fans of the genre are used to. The pacing of this show is leagues ahead of any show GMMTV has put out recently.
The issue really stems from expectation. It’s not that the shows that people holistically like (MAT for example) are well-paced. I love that show, but they get married in the finale with almost 0 buildup. It was barely criticised for this though, because the expectation of a romcom (especially in Thai media) is not good pacing. But a show like TTH, the expectations for the script, direction, and acting were so high, there’s a disconnect between fan expectations and the directorial vision.
All of these things (at least in my opinion) have been superb so far. This episode may have been the weakest so far, but it’s still so so incredible, and so sweet and well directed and edited and acted. I simply cannot find it in myself to disparage it on its pacing after having seen and loved a lot of other shows that are considerably worse paced.
Maybe I’m biased, and some of the criticism I’ve seen is well articulated and true, but maybe - JUST MAYBE - we are all holding this show to impossible standards.
