A CHILLED CUTE ROMANCE
I absolutely loved this drama! It’s refreshing because it doesn’t follow the typical Chinese drama formula — there’s no scheming “villain” character we’re forced to hate, and no annoying side character constantly interfering with the leads’ romance. Instead, it’s a pure love story where the only real obstacles are the characters themselves. The misunderstandings felt natural and were kept to just the right amount — unlike in Here to Heart, where the endless miscommunication became frustrating. Here, the pacing was perfect, making it easy to sit back, relax, and simply enjoy the cuteness.
What makes this show stand out is that it doesn’t rely on exaggerated clichés. There’s no rich tycoon falling for a poor girl. Instead, we see more realistic dynamics:
- An ex-boyfriend pressured by his father, leaving because his and the heroine’s career paths don’t align.
- A doctor who falls in love with a normal, career-driven woman.
- A female lead who is independent, strong, and never reduced to being weak or overly cutesy.
The acting was excellent as well — full of subtle nuances that made the characters feel real and relatable.
With so many repetitive storylines in dramas, sometimes it’s worth appreciating a show like this: one without an over-the-top villain, just a genuine and heart warming love story.
The only thing I think would have made the show a bit more cohesive is just to add a few scenes for context purpose why the ex-boyfriend broke up with the FL as apparently it was not obvious enough after reading some of the reviews. Maybe that he was trying his best to prove to his dad and was forced to break up with her but decided I can make it on my own I want her back in my life. (This was my impression from when I watched but I do feel like some people didn't get that lol)
