Watching today's episodes actually make me feel pangs of sympathy for the princesses. Not so much that I'd actually like them..they are stupid and vile people.
If they get over all their pettiness...they'd realize they are all the same as CSS. Like her, all they want is to be acknowledged and praised by their parents...and like CSS..they often get reprimanded instead. The difference is that CSS doesn't take it out on Cheng Yang..while the princesses do take it out on CSS. I do still believe that CSS has her FL halo (ie: plot armor) which lets her get away with behaving in a free willy-nilly way. If any other girl in the drama acted more like her..they wouldn't get away with it.
Poor CSS. She held it together so well until LBY came to praise her. My heart broke watching her bawl her eyes out and not telling him the truth because she didn't want to hurt him by letting him know that she's being bullied.
Why were there always someone who set rules for him not to fall in love?????? There was one in immortal world…
Objectively, love is a distraction. People do crazy crap in the name of love...it's just impractical to forbid it since it's not something anyone can control
Sometimes it feels like CSS takes 2 steps forward and 10 backwards.
This scene in Ep 33 where she's discussing her feelings with her girls is exactly the same as when her parents asked her if she truly wanted to end her engagement with LBY. She has this sudden epiphany that he's a really good man and that she likes him...yet makes no effort to consider her actions going forward.
Listening to your husband does not default to obeying him..she literally doesn't listen to him then gets pissed when he yells at her.
Yes...she responds better when people coax her..yet many times she does do things where she should get yelled at. She takes people raising their voice at her as a personal attack when they literally only do it because she refuses to listen and they've run out of patience.
I disagree. If she just said “I’m wrong!” then it’s not character development. It’s called being a doormat.LBY…
Acknowledging when you're wrong is tremendous character growth. It's something rarely seen in both dramas and real life. It takes more courage to admit fault than it does to fight to justify your own actions. The problem with many characters in this drama (including CSS, her mother, and the frustrating nobles/bullies) is that they have too much pride. Even when they know they are wrong, it hurts their pride too much for them to admit fault.
You know what would be funny? If the first time Zi Lin and Tang Zhou met..they ended up fighting and Tang Zhou wound up flipping Zi Lin hahahaha Talk about trauma hahaha
I completely agree with you. I see a lot of posts supporting CSS and her actions in episode 32 but I felt she…
I love her character but sometimes how she's written makes it hard for me to reconcile that this is the same girl. She has such "naïveté" that she runs around the palace her first time visiting, can't even properly bow, stares at the empress in awe and blurts out how beautiful she is, and sneaks in crackers to eat in front of the princesses when the main meal wasn't even served.. Yet....this is the same girl who devised a plan so strategic to prank the other girls and trick them into falling into the pond; leaving behind no evidence to implicate herself. She also openly complained about a trivial matter like Wang Ling's bullying in public to the Emperor and Empress as a means to gage how they would react when their family member is put in the hot seat...
Those characteristics clash a little too much for me to just accept. Some of her "innocent" behavior I could excuse if she were like 10..not 15; and definitely not for someone who is preparing on becoming a bride and managing her own home.
I respectfully disagree. Normally, I would say CSS was a bit impetuous but I don't think the CP issue was her…
Okay, gotcha. That's one thing that frustrated me whenever she got into a fight with mom...or she behaved poorly in public. It was always "I'm unruly because my parents didn't educate me" ugh
I appreciated when the emperor told her she can't keep using her sad background as an excuse not to learn anymore.
Honestly, I didn't particularly appreciate how CSS handled it at the end of episode 32...LBY consistently told…
I respectfully disagree. Normally, I would say CSS was a bit impetuous but I don't think the CP issue was her fault. All she did was console a son because he felt himself inadequate of his parents. Should she be more careful? Definitely.
But LBY fails to explain why it's dangerous. She's figuratively navigating palace life blind and it isn't fair for him to throw her into the fire and expect that she knows how to not get burned. He's plotting his own things in the background and never thinks to let her in so she can react accordingly.
I had my own criticisms against CSS...but girl gets a standing ovation from me in episodes 31&32. I love seeing her form relationships (both bad and good) with everyone around her. And it's completely fine with me that the romance is on the back burner for now.
Her convo with her mom was so sad and perfectly nuanced. It was seeing a daughter hesitantly trying to understand her mother yet afraid that her understanding could be wrong. She finally understood that maybe mothers truly only want peaceful lives for their children but just didn't have the confidence to take that leap with her own mother. The way she rushed the conversation and excused herself broke my heart because she was scared that maybe her mother's answer wouldn't be what she needed to hear and rather than having her hopes broken again, she ran.
Her convo with the Crown Prince brought tears to my eyes. She struggles with her own mother so much yet has so much understanding of the melancholic relationship the Crown Prince has with both his parents; one that is divided between being a son and being an heir.
Of course, can't finish without talking about her discussion with LBY. I LOVE that she called him out on all of it. He's the one who put her in the line of fire..without him, she never would've crossed paths with any official/royal family member..yet he's telling her to stay away from conflict? How could she see how big the ripple effects of her actions would be when she isn't informed of how delicate the structure of the inner palace is? He tells her to stop going the the Eastern Palace? How can she when he has such a close relationship to its owner, when she serves the empress..and when she's literally persecuted everywhere else she goes.
Such wonderful poignant moments in these episodes.
This photo of YY and YD is so beautiful! https://scontent-lhr8-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/296247994_617995289842000_6431226654132932148_n.jpg?_nc_cat=104&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=973b4a&_nc_ohc=Q8c4DojjnAgAX-urrXx&_nc_ht=scontent-lhr8-2.xx&oh=00_AT_zw1TkIn7uNmHd_SnC5LaOYSV4pSA9mmEtzoDuc9SL1w&oe=62ED36FB
Do you happen to know what the writing on the photo says?
I'm so excited for this scene since seeing the OST MV.I'm thinking it'll be when they return to the heavenly realm…
Honestly, I thought it was very selfish of her to demand an answer from him and when I watch trailers and she says "you owe me your heart" or "you owe me a life" ... uh .. he actually doesn't. When you give something of your own free will without being asked, there's no such thing as "you owe me." He literally told her not to do anything stupid to save him, but she was the one who persisted. That's the problem with "naive, innocent, free" female leads. I don't know if it was arrogant thinking on her half..to believe that they could fulfill those promises and live happily together when everything is still a mess...especially when heaven's one rule was you cannot fall in love.

THANK YOU!! I'm sure I will love her in episodes to come ... and I didn't want to say it...but she was eager to die just because he wouldn't say he loved her too...no honey..no. He would've had to be like "Yes, I do love you. I do remember all the promises we made...but it doesn't matter because I can't choose you" Either way would've crushed her.

Man needs to learn discretion

The thought of Ying Yuan using this Asura sword inside of him one day!!!
