I have a feeling that when a kdrama becomes famous (historical, romcom or any genre), users do not ask so many…
Completely agree with you, this drama is doing well because of the fresh plot, the amazing acting skills of the actors, their chemistry and just in general everything.
I don't think The Untamed uses any "boyfriend effect" as you called it. Just like in the novel Mo Dao Zu Shi there are a lot of male characters, which was given by the author of the novel. So I don't necessarily think this was plan of a marketing strategy, it's simply because of the characters of the novel.
Also let's not forget that there were some female characters who were essential for the plot such as Yan Li, Wen Qing, Qing Su, the blind girl (forgot her name lmao) etc.
Also this is about the cultivation world. There are less female cultivators so it makes sense for the main cast to be guys (read the novel for more info).
This drama got a higher ranking. While the 50 episode version is still #1, this drama is now ranking on #3 (before it was "only" #7) Congrats my WangXian family! <3
Also I have a question about the end. It's obviously Lan Zhan who said "Wei Ying" so they meet again. But do they meet again on some random mountain on a different day or is it still the same day? Was it 1. Wuxian playing the song that Lan Zhan wrote for them together. Lan Zhan heard it and turned around and went back to Wuxian, knowing that he can't leave his "friend". or 2. Wuxian playing the flute at a random after days, weeks or even years and Lan Zhan meeting his friend coincidentally or looking for him?
I think 1. was the real interpretation but I'm not sure.
I submitted the "Bromance" tag after so many people on here agreed that this is a bromance. One of the mods proceeded…
I already love you for submitting that one xD
On a serious note however I completely understand you, I'd say the majority would say this relationship is a bromance. I'm not gay or have a relationship at all but if one single mod replies with "no it's valid" that seems kinda off because you can clearly read in the comment section that the majority does not seem to think so
Dear Wangxian fans! Does anyone know more dramas like this? Without any additional female lead? Just the pure "friendship" and good chemistry between the actors?
also does anyone know why he doesn't have that many dramas even after Goblin? o_o
