Well, he kind of did it for two reasons. He knew he was attracted to Tharn at that point (although he was still very confused/conflicted by it and obvs he would never say it out loud). So he was still very homophobic but he had stronger feelings for Tharn than he'd ever had for anyone so he was having trouble denying it. And secondly, Type knew even then that his hate was sort of unreasonable and he was getting tired of it. He knew he couldn't go back and change what had happened to him, but he saw an opportunity for Tharn to sort of "replace" the experience of his abuse if that makes sense? With better memories.
Note though that I've only read unofficial translations so it might be a bit off but that's the jist of it. It's a lot easier to understand Type in the novel because you hear his thought process :)

The kiss did happen. Ayan fell back asleep after and kept having nightmares, so Akk stayed up holding him. I think it's meant to show us (and Akk) that Ayan has nightmares all the time.
