No, the director was the one involved in a plagiarism scandal 16yrs ago. He lost the case back then but didn't apologize or anything. Altho he bought the copyright to this movie, and even had the original Japanese author wrote the script for this movie but because of his past scandal, it affected this movie.

Why are you comparing a 2hrs movie to a 40+ episodes drama anyways? Not discrediting UT in any way but of course it's way more developed cause it have all the time. There's not much to do in a 2hrs movie esp when the two male leads story wasn't the center point even.

Mydramalist just list every rumor dramas as if it's confirmed. It's so confusing and quite messy. Why not put it under an actor name only when it's officially confirm? I don't get it. Deng Lun was just rumors with this and suddenly it's under his list of upcoming drama too. So annoying.

Try My True Friend, and Mr. Fighting. Those are the only other two dramas of his that he's the lead. Not much unfortunately. We are all waiting to see him accepting more dramas.
