I feel just like you, and I don't particularly like historical K-dramas, I watched bc someone I know put a high note on this drama. Honestly, it was a good drama, I appreciated the plot and things about it, but I definitely got bored. It really depends on each person, but seeing how we feel the same way about these types of dramas, probably not. I guess its just on how they portrayed certain topics and how they had the characters act. It's a good drama, but just not for me.

someone told me that the original drama was supposed to have around 45 episodes but something happened and it had to be cut to 40 eps. not sure what happened or why though but i guess thats the reason for a rushed ending?

the main couple has pretty good chemistry imo i dont see anything forced with it. even behind the scenes i see no difference besides they're just less serious in the behind the scenes so ima say yea they have good chemistry

ok im saying this in my personal opinion (i rewatched this at least 4 times HAHA i love this drama w/ my whole heart) but the first maybe 5-10 episodes the female lead CHARACTER is.... interesting. ill say that. but she does grow A LOT. yang zi (actress) did rly good job of portraying this character imo. idk if "lovable" is the exact word tho (meaning idk if it'll exactly fit her character, but i cant seem to find a word to fit the character)
