Sad about the bad reviews for this drama, I was already apprehensive about it because I dislike frustrating love triangles as plot point, but I really wanted to see Lee Jin Wook in a good romcom. I guess I better start with Nine or 3 Musketeers.
I only found him cute before, but seriously, Seo In Guk is at his hottest I've seen him in this drama. I usually avoid crime procedural dramas, but I have to check it out after seeing THAT otp poster, and the drama delivers! The crimes depicted relate to further our understanding of the main characters, and not only serve as fillers. Well, admittedly I am a sucker for the genius hero, which with a lesser actor can come across as robotic and boring, but Seo In Guk portrays him with the right mix of suaveness and complexity. Ji An will go down on my list of fave drama heroines of all time, she is badass and Jang Nara makes her 100x more adorable. The romance is a slow burn, that makes me wish for more, but the otp scenes together are so cute. Since Cantabile, Park Bo Gum continues to impress and be awesome. The whole cast is very likable.
My current drama crack. Park bo young is love, I am now a fan. She makes me cry either in laughter or sorrow. Jo jung suk is doing another amazing job making his character egotistical and prickly yet sympathetic. I've watched Im Joo Hwan before, but first time I noticed the nuances in his acting. He is so good. The drama surprised me to be more heartfelt than I expected, which I initially though the premise will only be played for laughs. Here's hoping for a smooth sailing of the drama, esp the resolution regarding valid concerns regarding the otp.
I just finished watching the first episode. I'm disappointed they changed the main character's personalities.…
I haven't watched the original drama, but I hope they tone down those Ha Ji Won cutesy scenes--it doesn't suit her at all, and she is great in doing strong roles. The tone shift is also very jarring, and it doesn't transition smoothly, comes off a bit slapstick. It is not funny when comedy is done that way. Good thing, the main couple has chemistry and who doesn't want to see Lee Jin Wook's longing looks which makes me want to continue watching for now.
Guys, you only need 1 reason to watch this drama--Jung.Kyung.Ho. He is sooo amazing on this, esp. doing comedy scenes which elevates the drama. I've never noticed him before, but I'm having serious Kang Min Ho withdrawals now. I will really miss all his funny scenes with his secretary Woo Shik, Wendy, Papa Ma, Soon Jung. Kim So Yeon is wonderful as always, as also the supporting cast. Even though I have problems with the story here and there, it is still a funny and heartwarming drama. I am looking forward to this writer's future work, as he/she does write comedy really well.
The neck kiss is definitely my new favorite kdrama kiss. There are high school cliches like bullying, etc, but the somewhat innocent yet sensual vampire angle sets it apart. Ahn kil kang as dad is wonderful as always.
Ep 1 is kind of a so-so episode with the introductions, but ep 2 picked up the story right along, and I am starting to get invested and sympathetic to the producers' lives. It is adorable to see Kim Soo Hyun back in that dorky role which he played so well in Dream High, but with a different twist and nuance. Enjoying Cha Tae Hyun's tired pd role also. Hope the drama works out, I like it that KBS is trying something different with this mockumentary/drama hybrid that does have something to say about the hard work involved behind variety and entertainment fields.
This is another solid, heartwarming, social relevant drama from one of my favorite kdrama writers. She wrote another great heroine in Choi In Ha, and Park Shin Hye portrayed her with flying colors. Lee Jong Suk is amazing, as always, he has already perfected the 'in love' look. It's so easy to sympathize with his character because of his portrayal. I do admit that it would be great if there are more 'falling in love' or romantic scenes, but I was not bored as there are a lot of things happening for the main plot, and the side characters made the reporting world fun and interesting. The scenes among the Choi family are simply adorable. The young actor that played hyung is so good, he is another one to watch out for. Can't wait for this writer's next project!
The first case was interesting, though I am not yet warming up to Song Chang Eui's portrayal of an emotionally detached genius, finding it a bit bland. I usually love these genius roles, when done well.
Being the latest drama from the writer and production behind IHYV, this is definitely going in my watch list. From the 1st ep, I can see the IHYV pattern here: tragic past, charming hero, spunky heroine, intertwined fate, procedural kind of episodes. Nothing can beat the amazing first episode of IHYV, but Pinocchio holds its own. The writer is already getting me invested with adorable young Dal Po from the start.
The acting is not 100% for the 3 main characters, and I'm awfully missing the wonderful Matsuda Shota, but I'm enjoying this kdrama version so far. How brilliant it is that they made it in a reality show, making it less dark, but somehow more sad and twisted? A shadier Lee Sang Yoon looks so hot here, it's good he's trying out a different role. Hope there's more romance than the original jdrama.
After episode 5, I am so loving this kdrama version right now, it's making me fall in love with the Nodame Cantabile characters all over again. I like that it's much more korean, therefore more cute and sweet scenes between the OTP. Joo Won's Chiaki is so much more caring and swoon-worthy, and Shim Eun Kyung is charming.
