I live in the US and have never watched any foreign dramas until recently when I stumbled upon the Viki app. I ended up watching Florished Peony within a week and now aching for season 2 (hopefully this summer)?? Until then, Ive been searching for a new series of interest and your review convinced me! I'm about to dive into this lengthy drama. Excited and thank you for sharing your comments!

I agree as I didn't even realize the season was ending until it was done! I thought it was a lack-luster ending but I would prefer that over a cliff hanger for sure. I just hope they find a way to move on from the 2nd wife! it's such a shame that society norms were that way during their time. But I hope that they finally discover their love for each other as I agree that they are an ideal couple. Looking forward to seeing how the writers and the two leads move forward.

Same here. I did not realize it would be continued onto a 2nd season....and agree that it likely could have been completed in one. But this is my very first foreign, subtitled drama and I'm definitely hooked.
The acting has been superb (particularly by the two leads). So much so that I absolutely hated to see him take a 2nd wife/concubine. I know his hand was forced but I still want to believe that he is true only to 1st wife. The continued development of their relationship will be interesting to see (along with several others).
