In Episodes 37–38, we finally got what felt like the beginning of their real relationship. They were actually communicating clearly about what was the problem. Even after that emotional scene with the discovery of Shen’s family grave, Lan Xiang was STILL making a fuss about how different their ways were and whether they could really be together. So how come she’s suddenly okay with those differences now? And what exactly made Lin Qi go from sleeping in the side bedroom to moving into the main bedroom?
I needed to understand that emotional shift in order to actually FEEL something when their long-awaited consummation finally happened. I needed the emotional payoff to match all that buildup.

I was SO invested until ep 38, I mean, the imperial-decree marriage and Lan Xiang’s reaction were completely justified considering everything she had been through. And then we finally got Jin Qi’s atonement, so I was thinking, okay, we’re finally getting somewhere emotionally. But then we get to the opening of Episode 39, and the leads are STILL at odds with each other, basically going with the whole “we just have different ways” logic. So what happened to that fuss? I need to know what exactly melted Lan Xiang’s heart. Does time really do that? Because I genuinely don’t know what changed.

I was crying over the death of second bro and suddenly the kid got bigger and palace scene which I am not sure what it implies and we got their first night. I waited too long for their first scene to be ended with nothing. Even their cheek kiss make me squeal, but not this, WTF

Not gonna lie, after finishing this drama, I’m just disappointed. What started with such a great premise slowly devolved into a mess, drifting further and further away from its original premise and losing sight of what made the story compelling in the first place, especially toward the end. There were just too many plot holes, and I found myself becoming increasingly emotionally detached as the mystery unraveled. Some twists felt rushed, while other developments didn’t feel properly connected to what came before. And that’s probably my biggest issue: the story just didn’t flow well. What a disappointment, honestly, especially because I'm a big fan of Xu Kai. It could have been so much better.
