From the opening scene... the script, the directing(!!), the acting... all pretty terrible. Made it 10 minutes into the second episode before feeling physically dizzy due to the constant change in camera shots. There is cut after cut after cut. It's not like the plot or the acting are anything great, but god the directorial/editing choices make this unwatchable. Try to count to five seconds before the camera cuts to another shot... it'll be few and far between.
good start but ahhhhhh these "believe in the good of humanity" people are so darn annoying. I do wish they'd for…
especially when the young guy is on the audit team! how can he be surprised that he needs to be suspicious and verify everything? bro your job is not based on vibes
I think it's because of his past. Maybe he is afraid that they will also turn their backs on him.
That's true, you're probably right that he thought he could quickly solve it. It just seemed hard to make sense of keeping it quiet when he's in likely the only profession where it's not implausible to be abducted and drugged as some sort of twisted revenge plot, especially so soon after making a big bust. It's interesting that his profession focuses on gathering evidence and he has so much already that he didn't participate willingly but he won't choose to share it.
I'm just so lost on the 'plot' here. Why would Inha bother to marry this girl if he doesn't love her/despises her and doesn't even want to work together with her to take over the company? He only created a strong adversary for himself... I am so confused about why he would bother marrying her to abuse her basically the next day. Even if he is actually a psychopath and doesn't have true emotions for her or Taeoh it just seems silly to take this path instead of continuing to manipulate FL's feelings for him/guilt for cheating to help cement his position in the company.
This all could make sense but the show is too rushed and doesn't focus on developing the characters and their motivations enough for me to follow along.
Loved the first 10 episodes but it's been really lackluster the past few episodes for me. I don't understand Jiwon's passivity. She's not only passive in letting her man go at the first sign of trouble with his ex popping up but also about her own life! First, almost letting a truck of doom a mile away almost hit her, and then also just standing there letting her ex strangle her to death?? She was so passionate about protecting her friend from her terrible husband but she'll just let herself die without ever actually getting revenge on her ex? I'm tired of it and I'm tired of her and Ji Hyuk apologizing to each other every five minutes.
After the long wait, I was very excited to watch the first episode! However, I think this drama is out of place in 2022. The plot so far and the interactions between the leads would be more fitting from an early 2010s drama. The importance of editing has never been clearer after watching this first episode! These interactions, even with the outdated script, could have worked if the show had proper editing. The music seemed to try to make the situation humorous but that's not how the actors placed the scene. I could get past all of that but I don't see any chemistry between the leads - even when they stared into each other's eyes at length.
Her relationship with her father is something completely unappealing to me. This man does not need to chase his grown daughter to a bar and disapprove of a perfectly fine friend she's seeing for the first time in years. I'm just not here for it and I'm not interested in exploring the family and relationship dynamics of these characters any further.
I'll be bowing out from this show. I hope sean chooses a more challenging role - I think he's up for the challenge but this role doesn't seem to offer much chance for depth. I could be wrong, but I'm tired of the cold (but secretly warm!) characters that don't seem to take much talent to portray.
There are a variety of reasons to watch a drama, I'd wager quite a few are here for Ji Soo. I'm not a kpop fan…
You're in my comment section; I'm not in yours. I am responding to comments on my 2 cents on this drama. I'm off to decorate sugar cookies! Hope everyone hot and bothered by my simple comment has a happy holidays

That's a ridiculously insulting comparison... a shipwreck versus a government torturing its citizens?? Hmmmm... I hope you have a gym membership because you are stretching

I'm sure those activists who are still LIVING are LOVING this portrayal. I'm sure they would love to watch a drama to forget about the tragic reality they had to face..... oh wait.....

The premise of this drama itself is the issue! There were no NK spies in the protest movement. That was a government excuse to unlawfully detain and torture the pro-democracy activists who the government perceived to be a threat to its power. This drama is validating that government lie! What more needs to be said.
The international audience would not know about these issues if they weren't brought up by concerned citizens! International audiences, and maybe even young SK audiences, most likely are not familiar with Korean history and would take major themes and occurrences at face value because they are being portrayed at historical events. At the very least, the production should make disclaimers at the beginning of episodes about this distortion.
This page exists to promote discussion on this drama and that's exactly what I'm doing. You obviously care enough about this drama enough to reply to my comment so how about you move on babe.
Your right, it probably should not have been made. The political aspect doesn't enrichen or add anything to the…
I made this post because anyone who criticizes this drama is being blasted in the comments for valid concerns by fans.
You conceded that a) there are fundamental issues with this drama and b) that it's likely propaganda.
So- given that, should fans be shamelessly promoting and celebrating this drama? Absolutely not.
Should fans be piling on people who raise awareness about these distortions of history? Absolutely not.
I think it's callous and in poor taste to brag and celebrate that this drama will continue to air. There's no recognition in these comments that this drama is problematic and propaganda. Instead people are trying to glorify it and the actors.
There were problems with the drama from its inception. These issues and concerns were brought up by the SK people and the production made it seem like they would be addressed. However that was a lie and production steam rolled ahead and ignored the underlying issues. I refuse to acknowledge that "oh they spent a lot of hard work" justifies airing this drama. The production worked hard??? Well they should've worked harder!!
The protests against this drama are not about taking down Jisoo or Jung Haein. There are valid reasons this drama should not have been made as it currently stands.
Reading the comments praising this drama and cheering that it will be aired honestly is wearing down my soul. I'm losing hope for humanity at this point that people are so concerned with "protecting" their favorite actors that they are blinded to all that's wrong with this drama's production and portrayal of atrocious historical events.
Think for one minute: if your favorite WASN'T in this drama, would you be defending it?? Would you be on this page? Would I be seeing you in the comments? I highly doubt it.
This drama is so wonderful so far and Jisoo’s acting is so natural. Love the ost, acting, friendship and cinematography.…
this drama is NOT fictional though. It's based on real atrocities and real people who suffered. International fans of korean dramas should honestly be ashamed to be like "I'm just trying to watch my fav's dramas!!!" when this drama is clearly distorting devastating historical events and validating the government's justification to be "worried" about NK spies infiltrating student protests. Can you have empathy for maybe one second for someone besides your fav actor or actress? Can you imagine how horrible it would be to go through and watch your family, friends, and countrymen be assault, tortured, and murdered and then decades later have a cutesy little romantic drama set during this era and distort the truth of the horrific events?
You should educate yourself enough to recognize and not tolerate propaganda. Of course JTBC is going ahead because they want to promote this propaganda! That's the whole point! They don't want or care to be historically accurate and portray the government's actions in its real light.
It's the season of miracles and I hope some of you wake up. Please gain some critical thinking skills. Your fav and this show's ratings are not nearly as important as it is to protect the legacy of the innocent people who survived and who died during this tragedy fighting for democracy.
the controversy around this drama makes me want to watch it even more lol...
the controversy around the historical events of a government torturing its innocent citizens makes you want to watch a drama white washing and validating the government's excuse to torture its citizens? I feel the need to spritz myself with some holy water because all y'all sound heartless and demonic
Are these comments in support of the show or the actors? I really want an objective review because I'm not being pulled in yet as of ep4 I'm not seeing a correlation with the hype
