ikr :))
Glad you mentioned skin probs...what she needs is a dermatologist...i wished she studied tht instead...or psychology to help those who are in her position...moreover..makeup esp heavy makeup won't let her skin breathe...which could only exacerbate the skin probs in the long-run...instead of a plastic surgeon why didn't her mom get her to a derm? So drastic/extreme her mom's response to the bullyin...and if she's considered ugly idk what the term really means.... Second your comment...since target audience = teens...lots of the bigger issues get side-stepped...lolz...i juz caught your op comment "magically changed from wall-flower to a strong girl"...ROFL...i imagined it you see....lolz...like literally...they must have very diff interpretation of what strong equals to
Amazing article! Congratulations on your first article too :) The first part of the article on It's Okay to Not…
suho being against pretty = pretty unrealistic! So glad someone mentioned it! High-5! like finally! This is unbelivably true...lolz if they placed a super gorgeous model or something in front of him,....and 99.9% of the HUMAN race would fall for her...comeon.... i wanted her to at least experience real friendship and to build her self-confidence from within...not outside...but whatever writer-nim...lolz...i liked the sis tho...in the drama...
For the ending of true beauty, I always thought it would be good if she didn't end up with any of the male leads,…
omg yes! I knew it to be a slim chance..but I wanted it to go tht way...LOLZ...yea me too...as a character she was weak...why would 2 hot guys fall like tht...okie...lolz
Thank you for raising those important issues.Btw, Seo Yea-Ji lied about her education (she did not attend the…
I luv your desc on fls! 'tooth fairy or anime'..rofl...tht's really good :)) honestly...these fls come off as b****...none of us want to meet them irl (or at least just me!) and i was struggling to fathom how are they considered badass instead...take jang mw in hotel del luna...she'd suddenly screamed out of nowhere...i mean i had a boss exactly like tht...who'd just take out her anger on the team and screamed at anyone who (unfortunately) was in her room at tht time despite not being the source of her anger! She'd screamed and screamed and screamed like a fiend from hell! Watching hdl was like reliving horrible memories of this ex-boss (i had to turn down the volume too)! I agree w other commenters who asked the valid ques of why a strong fl can't embody the persona of someone beautiful (inside), strong and NICE? Somehow...true or intriguing strong characters seem to be written for men rather than females...(disclaimer: I'm not a hard-core fan and neither have the time to watch many dramas soooo take this with a large spoonful of salt!) lolz
OMG OMG OMGTHANK YOU You have finally put the words I wanted to express so badI finally have someone sharing the…
lolz...glad there are so many of us out there...seriously tho..i think it is a continuous prob in society...no matter where we go...a while back i heard of some scientists claiming that they could actually 'design' a kid...basically it means tht if you wanted a kid w blue, green purple...rainbow (yea im exaggerating lol) eyes...or whatever features..in time to come, it'd be possible...can you imagine? Wow...no one would ever choose to look 'ugly' again...and entire nationalities could be wiped out if everyone wanted western looks...no one would want to look different...or even have a diff skin tone...i'm tryin to imagine how it would look like...like shoppin for the perfect barbie baby or baby ken....ROFL creepy if it could actually be done...still perhaps only the super rich could afford it...
It took guts to voice this out loud - I commend you for taking this on despite the popularity of these k-dramas...and voicing a not-so-popular opinion at your first attempt (you are literally walking into a lion's den!) ;))
I can't really comment on the others...but on tb...summary point 4 was spot-on...I was lolz tht despite all the supposed emphasis on "true beauty"..the male leads HAD to be attractive!!! Isn't that ironic?! That itself highlighted the fl's hypocrisy! It also meant she herself bought into society's standards of beauty! She suffered bullyin cos of these crazy standards but yet wanted it for herself! That was what got me laughin and I was waitin for a like comment fo sooooo long to see if anyone else also thought alike! I mean..if she wanted ppl to see her for her...why would she be like everyone else and go for the most popular boy in school...sigh...yea yea...ig she's a teenn.......whatvever...she needed someone on top of the social chain to validate her as a person...it's sad really....I was waitin for her to turn rebel or somethin...do somethin really out there and challenge society's standards but in the end...sigh (like start an anti-bullyin campaign..or SOMETHING but in the end..it's a message tht everyone wants to be pretty, fluffy and tht's tht)... I was waitin for them (the writers) to intro someone mysterious, socially unlikable and not-so-attractive so tht the point of the drama gets highlighted (no i did not read the webtoon and it's true beauty for god's sake - like something out of a beauty pageant rulebook) but perhaps this is the most realistic of the entire fabric of the drama - despite so many others not (for eg bullying and how they tackled tht)...tht pretty/gorgeous/beautiful gets whatever they want and it can be achieved artificially if not...cos tht's life... p.s. before anyone comes for me (eg. oh so 'unattractive' must date unattractive' this is juz my opinion :p)
Congrats on your first article and wow what a topic you choose for your article. Really interesting and indeed…
totally agree! The issues they tackled were serious..incl. bullying but the treatment of them were not explored cf. to the love bit instead.. ."Someone who considers ending their own life needs help, not make-up." So perfectly summed up.. the issues were more than skin-deep...
I'm the same age as the FL in Itaewon Class, and the only reason I finished the drama was bc I was hoping she…
Thanks for speaking up! I mean...i'm glad there are actual ppl out there who (thank God!) think alike...i also thought there's something wrong w me whenever i refuse to pick up a drama w huge age gap..esp when 1=teen and the other=adult (it's awful and obviously preying /creepy behaviour)...or when i do watch these dramas like mriag i felt like an outsider cos all i see was behaviour bending on control, power play and manipulation...lolz! Dun worry...those like us who think different are so few and far in-between tht when author-nim comes along it's like thank God! ROFL... I can't imagine if the roles were diff...like if we were standin in our parents' shoes how they would feel...like if you had a kid who suddenly wanted to marry straight out of hs or whatever what would you do...why would a hs kid hang out w an adult man? I see comments in other fandoms excusing it as 'normal' irl and they are happy...ect....but comeon...if we were absolutely honest...there's a reason they are targeting young ppl and not their own age gap....esp adults in their 20s...lolz...tht ain't no love...lolz...if someone still younger came onto them what happens then? Well...to each their own...
It's not just female leads. It's also male leads. For example, 'Run On' and 'Shopping King Louie' feature male…
omg...finally someone said it! I thought I was the only one who felt off ;)) ...i can't comment on the others but mriag was really an imbalanced power play...and idk bout other countries but dating your own prof in uni/college is certainly taboo in mine...I think there are professional guidelines against tht (contractual-wise)...esp when she has to keep reporting to him everything about her life...what?? why.....ig she "loves" doin it but comeon...she's in her early 20s...who does that?! And imagine him goin after her male friends...ew...so scared if he hears the other guy's voice in the background...when he wouldn't even let her go back home to her bro is really a lil much...ig he's dying and all..but comeon again...he's not her ONLY commitment...lolz...i only stuck around for the 2nd fl and her friends who were ultra-funny (and I was a bit irritated w the fact they HAD to make a pretty gumiho/gal a bimbo juz for laughs...i was waitin for some brilliant moments from her but no sigh)...
