a really surprisingly good show
Initially, my curiosity was piqued simply by a desire to take a quick peek at the trailer for this show, largely due to my admiration for the female lead (FL). Going into it, I’ll admit I didn’t harbor any lofty expectations. From the outset, the production struck me as somewhat modest—perhaps even low-budget, if I’m being honest. The cast, too, seemed fairly unremarkable, with the notable exception of the FL, whose presence was the primary draw for me. I wasn’t anticipating anything extraordinary, and yet, something compelled me to stick with it beyond that first glance. As I continued watching, I found myself pleasantly surprised. The story unfolded in a way that hooked me, steadily drawing me deeper into its world. One of the standout aspects was how the director handled the dialogue—keeping conversations concise, sharp, and purposeful. There wasn’t a single moment that felt like unnecessary filler, which is a rarity in itself. Every scene seemed to serve the narrative, propelling it forward without wasting time or dragging things out.
What’s even more intriguing is how my perception of the show evolved the longer I watched. At first, I was skeptical about the production quality, but as the episodes progressed, my appreciation grew. I started to see the method behind what I’d initially dismissed as a flaw. The seemingly modest production values actually complemented the story perfectly, enhancing its tone and atmosphere in a way I hadn’t anticipated. Don’t get me wrong—I’m still not entirely sold on the aesthetic itself; it’s not my personal preference. But I get it now. I understand why it was done that way, and I can respect the artistic choice, even if it’s not my favorite.
The storyline itself is nothing short of captivating. It’s managed to hold my attention in a way that very few shows ever have. In fact, I’d go so far as to say this is the first series—aside from the obvious juggernaut that is Game of Thrones—to keep me this invested from start to finish. There’s something about the way it’s crafted, the way it builds momentum and keeps you guessing, that feels uniquely gripping. I found myself eagerly anticipating each new episode, a level of enthusiasm I hadn’t expected when I first clicked play.
I’d love to take a moment to tip my hat to the production team behind this gem. Congratulations are in order—seriously, well done. You’ve managed to take what could have been an unassuming project and turn it into something truly special. The effort and vision shine through, and it’s clear you’ve struck a chord with viewers like me.
Speaking of which, I’ve noticed I’m far from alone in my growing admiration. A quick glance at the ratings tells the story: what started as a solid 8 has climbed to an impressive 8.5. That upward trend speaks volumes. It’s evident that plenty of others have had a similar experience—starting off with modest expectations, only to find themselves increasingly won over as the series progresses. It’s a testament to the show’s ability to surprise and captivate, and I’m glad to be one of the many who’ve come to appreciate its brilliance.

Rewatch value highest ever
As a fan of Chen Feiyu, I was initially drawn to this show purely because of his involvement, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it far exceeded my expectations. From the very first episode, the series captivated me with its compelling storytelling, well-developed characters, and high production quality, quickly becoming one of my favorite viewing experiences. Having watched only halfway through the season, I’m already convinced that this will be my show of the year. One of the standout aspects of the series is its rewatchability, a rare quality that sets it apart from other shows I’ve seen. While waiting eagerly for new episodes to drop, I found myself revisiting earlier ones, and to my delight, each rewatch brought just as much joy as the first viewing. The layers of nuance in the writing, the emotional depth of the performances, and the intricate details in the production design make every episode rewarding to revisit. This is the first show where I’ve felt such consistent excitement and satisfaction when rewatching, a testament to its exceptional craftsmanship.
The show’s opening sequence is particularly noteworthy. Each episode begins with a beautifully performed theme song, a duet sung by the female lead (FL) and male lead (ML). This creative choice not only showcases the chemistry between the leads but also sets the perfect tone for the story. The melody is evocative, blending seamlessly with the show’s aesthetic and emotional undercurrents, drawing viewers into the narrative from the opening moments. It’s a small but impactful touch that enhances the overall viewing experience.
In terms of pacing, the show starts with a slightly accelerated tempo in the first episode, likely to hook the audience with an engaging introduction to the world and characters. However, after this initial burst of energy, the pacing settles into a more balanced rhythm, allowing for deeper character development and a gradual unfolding of the plot. This shift feels natural and well-executed, giving viewers time to connect with the story without feeling rushed or dragged. The slower moments are filled with meaningful interactions and subtle foreshadowing, rewarding attentive viewers with a richer understanding of the narrative.
Chen Feiyu’s performance is, as expected, a highlight of the series. His ability to bring depth and authenticity to his character is remarkable, and he shares excellent chemistry with the rest of the cast, particularly the female lead. The supporting characters are equally well-acted, with each adding unique dimensions to the story. The show’s visuals are stunning, with carefully designed sets, vibrant cinematography, and costumes that enhance the world-building. The writing strikes a perfect balance between emotional resonance, humor, and intrigue, keeping me invested in every twist and turn.
Even though I’m only halfway through the season, the show has already left a lasting impression. Its ability to blend heartfelt moments with an engaging plot, coupled with its rewatchable quality and strong performances, makes it a standout in its genre. I’m eagerly anticipating the remaining episodes and have no doubt that this series will continue to impress. For anyone looking for a show that combines stellar acting, a captivating story, and a mood-setting soundtrack, this is an absolute must-watch.

amazing show so glad I come across this
only at episode 7 right now but I must write this review already. I came across this show when finishing Go Go Squid 1.even though the name suggest otherwise, this show is almost not linked to GGS1. in fact it is very different. it is much deeper in emotion and so so good. while GGS1 is heavy with the competition history, this one is much more focus on the romantic relationship.
I have watched many shows but this one definitely the top one with memorable moments. in just a short period of time, there already so many cute / emotional moments, worthy to be remembered and mentioned (but I won't post any spoiler).
also have to say that the cast is really outstanding. I am so looking forward to watch this till the end (and re-watch soon after probably)
