Well you were a lot smarter than I was regarding XY's red flags. Unluckily the story line will be going back to…
Lots of interesting comments here! I think XY's purchase of the handbag was a final severance of her relationship with her ex-husband. He originally bought her the bag, over her protestations that they couldn't afford it, because he wanted to be a big spender and show off. She ended up having to return it to cover their bills (and I never did figure out if it was a fake?) but now she bought it back, FOR HERSELF, with her OWN money. She no longer needs him. She'll make it on her own, and to me, the bag was a mental "flipping the bird" to her failed marriage. Anyway, I'd like to see it that way. :)
Or she could be completely stupid in how she handles her money, lol! In which case, you're right, she'll never make it on her own.
As for the developing relationship between TYY and KJ, They're both careful and insecure with their emotions. We get why TYY is that way, having grown up with nobody to depend on, and I think KJ's hesitation has something to do with a betrayal by his former legal partner. Was she a woman that he thought he loved? Or someone he trusted deeply that screwed him over? That right there would make his actions completely understandable. (I found the early scene where he was packing things in his old office and he left all the awards and honorariums behind to be rather heartbreaking, like he made a complete break from all his success.) Then he jumped into a quickie marriage with a woman he didn't really know, and that fell apart. Like many career-focused guys, he has, um, rudimentary dating skills and he knows it. He doesn't want to blow this chance but if he's going to be with her more than just on weekends, he'll have to adjust his previous career goals to do it. He's got a dilemma on his hands.
TYY's relationship with the ex-boyfriend was more of a fling; she was never deeply attached and he didn't really understand her. Easy to walk away. But KY has unsettled her from episode 1, and I think it's because she knows, instinctively, that there could be a very deep bond between them. He "gets" her and she's starting to "get" him in return.
Right now I'm more interested in how KJ comes to terms with this. He does care for her but something is holding him back. And I've only just finished episode 23, (don't get the releases quite as fast here) but I'm hoping they make it work.
Episode 19 was soooo good for all the moments between the ML and FL. Can't wait to see people's reactions on the…
Just finished episode 19 and the birthday flashback was heartbreaking. What I'm sensing is that TYY is just waking up to the fact that KL truly cares about her as a person, and she's being drawn to that even if she doesn't fully realize it yet. And since she hasn't had anyone other than Pei Lin to be an emotional support, she is suspicious of everyone and anyone. Fang We'An wanted her, in great part, as a vehicle to break free from his memories of the dead ex and move on, so in a way he was using her. KJ doesn't want that. he genuinely likes and admires her for who she is, and he understands her far better than she thinks at this point. He's constantly catching her off guard, just by treating her like someone who really matters to him. The little scene with the washcloth and socks floored her, in a good way.
If this series doesn't have a happy ending I might spit at my laptop screen.
Thank you. I was having fun mentally comparing Lin Yushen's portrayal of KY in this drama with his characterization of Lu Jin in Dating in the Kitchen, which is another personal favorite of mine. Even though it's a different genre - romantic comedy - that character was much like this one in being sharp and astute professionally, but awkward when it dealing with women and not being able to "read the room" very well. Here, she's been rebuffing him and he's been clumsily trying to get to know her, and when that hospital scene happened I was surprised that they just let him react so honestly. Very sweet scene even without the bumbling assistant crashing in. :)
I agree with lin xiaoyun. I am also excited for the leads romance, their moments in eps 16 were really good, the…
I think he's staying in a hotel because he looked at this position as a short-term favor to a friend and hasn't really found a reason to stay. I hope TYY becomes that reason.
Really loved ep 16 and the way TYY is gradually peeling back her layers so we can understand her. I have to be honest, for the first five or six episodes I really didn't like her; too prickly, too snarky, and the disrespect she showed him was inexcusable (yeah, I know, he was brand new at the director job and probably giving her some slack). But she's becoming more human, and though she's trying to hold him at arm's length, the scene in the hospital was a surprise. I liked that she revealed something painful and personal, and found instant understanding and acceptance from KY, which surprised me as much as it surprised her. I really want to know how a guy as sharp as him is so emotionally clumsy, and why he disappeared for two years only to marry on impulse and then divorce six months later. So far, this series has been a real treat.
weiAn is still nuts. who chauffeurs a sociopath, tracking down people into the countryside?if logic applies, fl…
The teenage psycho would have been convicted of false accusation of rape, but Ting Ting knew the charge wouldn't stick once the birth certificate came to light and they found out she was only 15, so she delayed the process to make sure the teenager at least had to sit her butt in jail for a couple of days. Smart move.
